Competed in Baltimore today it was a ton of fun. Snatched 67 kg and clean/jerked 82 kg.

Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics.

Nice! I LOVE the oly lifts, so much fun. I'd like to enter a comp someday just for the experience.

I wish there were some Oly comps around here to partake in, but no such luck. Olympic weightlifting rules everything.

Huh, just curious, but how much could a 205lb guy clean and jerk at a meet like that?

I'd guess around 350+

ETA- world record is 500# at that bodyweight

Done by my favorite lifter.... Szymon Kolecki. Here it is. It's at about the 4:30 mark

If you're an olympic level athlete, yeah....if you're just a guy who likes to oly lift, 275 isn't laughable at all.

No 275 is great, I'm thrilled anytime I work with anything over body weight.

One of the guys I train with weighed in at 91 kilos and snatched 80 and c/j'd 95 and took second place in the novice division.

What other divisions were there, and how did they place athletes in each division? Or did athletes choose which division?

Each session was set up by weight (I was in the 77 kg division) and within each weight category there were 2-3 classes (novice, junior, master, or senior) competing against one another. So i lifted with some high speed guys my size who were way stronger but I was only actually competing with the other novices.

As the day wore on and the novices, juniors, youth, and female lifters had there turns the big dogs came out. The 105 kg+ hulk dudes were fun to watch humpin heavy weight like it was nothing.

Roland At 175 lbs you would compete in the 85 kilo class as a novice and if you could snatch 80 and c/j 100 you would probably kick serious ass.

Cool. My current max squat snatch is 81kg (180#) (I can do more with a power/split snatch) and C&J is 109kg (240#)...

So so you just sign yourself up for novice, or did they place you there?

They ask how many competitions you've been a part of. If under 3 you're a novice.

With those lifts you should do very very well, just make sure you're form is up to spec.

Well, that sounds like fun...I'll have to keep my eyes open for one sometime when I'm done with my current schedule of training...

Hmm, interesting. That's kinda the answer I was curious about. My form needs some work (I think I need to work on flexibility...I feel like I am working way too hard moving the weight, instead of me moving around the weight), but I would definitely be interested in that type of thing.
