For a while I'd been hearing dudes shouldnt use soy protein, now I'm hearing 2:1 whey:soy. Any input?

No soy- go for whey and casein. Whole food sources are even better.

What's wrong with grass-fed beef, chicken, eggs, and nuts?

I did the protein shake thing for a few years, but am glad to be done with it. I just don't think they are healthy long-term.

Eggs, bacon, milk, peanutbutter. If these don't do enough for you then you're not eating enough eggs. Cholesterol be damned.

Uh...

Lets see you get 300-400g of protein without protein supplements.

Welcome to eating 4lbs of meat/day (or 55 eggs?...) Not practical logistically, nor financially intelligent.

Best possible protein= egg derived protein powder. It IS pricey... and doubtfully shows any real benefit over whey.

As mentioned. Stay away from SOY... phytoesters and all that fun stuff...

There is no good scientific evidence (as in a decent study) to say soy milk is going to fast track you to gyno-man-boob-double-Ds.

It's a "just in case" kind of thing and the reasoning behind why it's not worth it is good logic.

Good logic doesn't always make good science. But, it's enough for me to stick with designer milk like Mootopia when I include dairy.

Well much to my wifes protest I have dumped all of our soy and almond milk.

Guess it's just water and tea...

I swear if one of you SOB's tells me why is bad I'll kill ya!

I ordered a custom mix from here: http://www.truenutrition.com/c-54-proteins.aspx

I cut out powder for a while, but I seem to recover a little better with some protein immediately post workout. Real food is best, but there are times when protein powders make a lot of sense.

Why dump the almond milk?

Some of the additives.

I get silk and while the box says it doesn't have it the website does... At least from what what I read Too many conflicting reports on all of it. Dairy is full of hormones, soy with mess with hormones, additives in almond can mess with the stomach possibly increase cancer...

Can't win. So fuck it. I'll eat whole food

Saw some of that but that has got to be pricey. To make enough to drink!

Yeah, you'd definitely need to buy almonds in bulk or have an "in" with someone.

real food trumps protein powder every time IMO...

that said I am using muscle pharm combat powder before bed or right after working out as i can only get in 3 meals a day right now with no opportunities for snacking in between. if you can be getting decent meals and protein filled snacks, do that.

I heart Combat, but it is relatively high in carbs and cholesterol.
