I'm interested in Crossfit but I'm not sure what to expect.
I did a couple rounds of P90X and Insanity. Lost 48 lbs last year and gained some back since I stopped working out this winter. Looking to get back into shape and loose the weight I put on.
Do you have specific questions?
CF is a great conditioning program, beginners especially should see a huge improvement in pretty much all aspects of fitness....if you're looking for pure strength or pure speed or endurance then CF is not for you (except for maybe as occasional supplemental work). If you're looking for a general fitness program then CF will be right up your alley.
Look for a gym that hits squats, deadlifts and presses regularly along with olympic lifting. You should be lifting heavy a few times a week while CFing to get the max benefit. The "metcons" (metabolic conditioning ie what most people think of when you say CF) will not get you strong. Look at a gym's programming- the metcons should also not be stupid long all the time. Normal ones should last 5-15 minutes with an occasional 20+ minute one.
Be prepared to push yourself hard...also go into it knowing that the prerequisites to be a coach are pretty lax...so you may get a GREAT coach or you may get a retard. Do your research before hand to know the difference.
If you have specific questions ask away...
Just for you...I'll kill Greg Glassman so you can become the new spokesperson for CF.

I cannot condone such an act.
Publicly.

Thank you. That was what I was looking for. I found a place locally and plan on trying it. Thanks again,
Post some of your local affiliate's workouts here before you sign up. If they're poorly programmed/not programmed at all, we can let you know.

No problem. And as posted above, if you let us know some programming we can critique it a bit...programming isn't my strong suit, but I can usually spot shitty programming at least
