I jumped on mw3 for the first time since the first of year a little while ago since the map pack for ps3 was available. I play core tdm most of the time, some FFA every now and then. In simple terms, whats the point of domination? They have it on the elite playlist for the new maps, and I dont know how to play it. The few games I played I led the lobby in kills and captures, but had no defends. Whats the best way to play Dom?
it's like king of the hill, with 3 hills. first team to 200 points wins
You spawn at the flags you hold. Hold two flags, and let them spawn at the third. You know where they spawn. Sweep the leg.
Capture two of the three flags, control the spawn of other team at whatever flag they have and dominate them with airstrikes. At least that's how it worked in MW2.

Capture two points and spawn trap the other team at the third. In domination, you tend to spawn at the points you control since the game figures that's the safest place for you to pop in at. On some maps, you can lock the other team into some really nasty traps (stuck at A-dom on Interchange, spawning in the back alley near C on Fallen) if you hold two points and they have only one. (ETA - You gotta be careful with your position where you do this, because if you advance too far into the other team's spawn, the game will flip the spawns figuring that they don't want players to get killed as soon as they spawn. Interchange is a good example of this, you've got B and C, you got them trapped coming out of the alley from A, if you hang around under the middle bridge and pick them off as they come running out, you're good. The moment you advance into that alley like you're going towards A, the spawns will flip and the enemy will start spawning near C even though they don't control C).
Try not to triple cap if you can avoid it, only if you and your team are trying to come back from a big deficit. When you have all three flags, the enemy spawns tend to get a little unpredictable and it's surprisingly easy to get overwhelmed from out of nowhere.
Also, try to hold flags where it's easy to get to both of them to defend. For example, on Carbon, IMO, you want C at the top of the hill and B in the middle, or A and B. A and C are gonna be hard to defend since you gotta run all the way across the damn map to get from one point to another, unless you have an organized team using tac inserts and lots of air support, and even then it's less than ideal. The same goes for Mission, B and C are the ones to have IMO, especially since A is down in a pit where the other team has a height advantage and can shoot down on you, I hate the A spawn on Mission, that place is a frickin' hell hole to get trapped in.
