First off, you will need an Xbox 360, a computer, Skyrim for the 360 and a USB flash drive formatted for the 360.
You will need 2 programs, Horizon, and Hex Workshop

- In game, find a barrel, empty the barrel, and put 20 pieces of gold into the barrel and back out. (I use gold cause its easier to find, however you can use any item, any quantity, but 20 gold is super easy)

- Create 2 saves, remember which one you want to edit, and move that one to the USB drive.

- Plug USB drive into your computer, open up horizon, find your save on the right, and extract it to wherever.

- Open Hex Workshop, open up the save game

- Open the search function and search for "40000F14000000" (if your doing 20 gold) if you pull up more than one instance, you should change all of them, if you can't find it at all, you might need to go back in-game, pull out all gold, put it back in and resave, repeat steps above

- Change "40 00 0F 14 00 00 00" to "40 00 0F FF FF FF 00"

- After editing, File/Save and exit Hex Workshop

- Drag and drop the save into Horizon, then hit save and ok. It should say Saved, Rehashed, and Resigned!

- Hit save to device, select the USB drive, hit yes, then yes again, then ok

- Remove USB stick from computer, and load save back onto Xbox 360, load up the save, and check your barrel, you should have a shit-ton of gold (like 1.6 mil or something)

- Buy anything you want in game, houses, horses, training, bribe every guard you see, whatever you want.

This is super fun if you want to just mess around on an alternate character, I hit level 33 before I left Whiterun just by leveling Blacksmithing, and training Two Handed and Heavy Armor

It's not quite that easy and if you do it wrong you may encounter a "disc unreadable" error that may wind up being a flag to Microsoft that could result in a console ban.

Best way I have seen to do it through video tutorials is to have a really odd ball gold number when you put it in the chest or barrel. If you have say 1391 to put in a barrel it will have a better chance of being a unique number in the string of code. That way all you have to do is have the hex number for 1391, find it, change it to the proper FFFF value and be done with it.

I've never had the error, nor known anyone to get the error, and should you get it anyway, there is about a .0000001% chance Microsoft will ban you because of a single player-only game

It's not like making gold in Skyrim is hard.

Any similar tweaks for the PC version?

I've been tempted by Skyrim, but not enough to buy a xbox.

PC is easier, just hit the `~ key, and learn the console commands, for gold I think its player.additem 000F X
x being the amount of gold you want to add
Don't quote me on this though, its from oblivion, but normally all the fallout/elder scrolls game are the exact same

No kidding. It's not like there is anything that good to buy anyways.
