I assume for drive longevity you either turn paging off completely, or page to a different drive?
I would go one step farther... stick a bunch of RAM in the machine, and disable the page file all together.

I have 3 machines setup like this, 2 laptops, and 1 desktop. 4 gigs does it in my macbook, and 8 in my e6410 and 8 in my desktop. Not one issue from running with no page file, also turn off indexing, etc. They run great.
