 Tim Tebow's NFL Prospects

What do you think?

On one hand, I'm very impressed with the young man in general and his accomplishments as a college QB are well documented. The guy is a winner. Even if he does flop in the NFL I have no doubt that he will be a very successful man.

On the other, he does cry a lot. Not exactly a popular personality trait in the NFL. He played in a very un-NFL system in at Florida, has practically no experience playing under center and is trying to change his throwing motion to conform to nebulous NFL standards.

I have to say I think he'll succeed in the NFL. If you watched the Steelers vs. Ravens game in week 12 where Dennis Dixon started, I think you saw a glimpse of what Tebow could be - minus the fatal rookie mistakes once he's a regular starter. Actually, I think that Tebow (and to a lesser extent Dixon) could potentially revolutionize the position for the entire league.

General Bust only because people for the most part are not buying into Ryan Leaf-esque hype.

The NFL game is much different and on a completely different level.

I don't see Tim doing much as a QB.

He may be smart and dilligent enough to be a journeyman back-up.

I'd like to see the Bears take him - Cutler may not be able to hack the Martz system.

Tebow, on the other hand, is enough of a blank slate where Martz might be able to work with him.

I don't really see how the Bears could end up with him. They don't even have a pick until the third round.

You're probably right, but I've read that Tebow's stock has fallen quite dramatically.

Although after living in Detroit for so long, I've come to the conclusion that drafting offensive talent is Fool's Gold - better to trade the high picks down and take Linemen.

Tebow's stock dropping doesn't surprise me at all. I personally think he's overrated, and I'm not certain he deserves to go in the first round. I'm no expert though.

I think he'll be a mediocre starter and bounce around from team to team.

My main issue with him is that is throwing motion is too damn long, and that's not an easy thing to change (don't care about a Pro Day, I want to see him keep the "new" motion, which still kinda sucks, when he's about to get hit by a 280lb DE). His arm strength is good, not great. Ditto for his accuracy. His running style will not translate well to the NFL, though that's not so important.

The system adjustment will be big, and Tebow doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool in the shed... Who knows, though, Vince Young has done alright.

I think he's probably the fifth best QB in the class, after Bradford, Clausen, McCoy, and LeFevour, in that order.

The throwing motion standards aren't nebulous. NFL DBs are too quick for a QB to get away with a long release. Leftwich has a cannon for an arm, but his throwing motion is so long that CBs still jump the routes.

If you look at the best QBs in the NFL, they ALL have fairly quick and compact throwing motions. Roethlisberger probably has the longest motion of anyone you could consider a top-10 QB, and his is nowhere near Tebow's.

If he gets picked up by the right team he'll be fine. He has all the athletic ability in the world and a crazy good work ethic.

But then again maybe im a homer.

Not a Florida nor Tebow fan, but I find all this BS ridiculous.

I loved it when Gruden owned Kiper who was going on about how innaccurate Tebow was, etc. Gruden pointed out his 70 percent completion percentage and named all the highly touted QBs he has beaten such as Bradford and McCoy.

I thought Kiper was gonna have a stroke. He comes across as a pompous ass.

Why did I not hear all this same crap about Vick? Just last night they said he was an absolute number 1 when the Falcons drafted him. Oh please.

He has not shown yet that he can play the position and besides that, he is a piece of shit. That's not based on the dogfighting, it's based on the way he conducted himself the whole time he was with the Falcons.

And talk about not being able to pass. Shit, if it was more than 10 yards, he couldn't hit shit. That's why the tight ends led the Falcons in receptions for several years.

They blamed the recievers, etc, yet one of those recievers went to the Pro Bowl in Matt Ryan's first year.

So, again I ask, why was not all this skepticism heaped upon Vick, Russell, etc. PC bullshit?

I am going to laugh my ass off when Tebow proves you guys and assholes like Kiper wrong.

Well gee, isn't that true for any college QB?

What pick was Tom Brady? Seems like the said he was number 129 last night. I also seem to recall a lot of the same crap said about him.

Being a Broncos fan I have these words to say:

I'm excited to have Tebow. I'm still not certain he was the best pick for us given where he was taken, but I hope I'm proven wrong.

Looking back, it's easy to see why McDaniels drafted him where he did. McDaniels values things such as attitude, work ethic, team players and club house presence as much as he values ability. Tebow has those in spades.

What happened when McDaniels came to Denver? He started cleaning house. He got rid of Cutler- who while he's got some major athletic ability is a whiney, pouty little bitch. He spends the game sitting on the bench by himself with a frown on his face.

Let's not forget about Brandon Marshall, arguably the best receiver Denver has ever seen. Too bad his attitude sucks, he's got a bad chip on his shoulder. Not to mention his off field garbage. So McDaniels trades him.

Following that, McDaniels is building this Denver team around some specific guidelines that, as a Denver fan, I respect and will allow him time to do so. Let's also not forget that McDaniels can probably shape Tebow into something pretty special. Especially considering Tebow's work ethic.

For the record I hope he fails, but that is just because I'm a Raiders fan and the last few years have been rough.

It's not true for every college QB.

Certain kids have the "NFL drop back style pocket passer skill set" that is NEEDED in the NFL because defenses are so fast. The 3rd string corner on the other team was the best corner guys saw in college. NFL qb's are successful because they are able to make good decisions and throw the ball accurately and effectively. Gimick qb's do not last. I think Tim can help Denver but not as their every down qb.

I hope I'm wrong because I love the kid. Great person and great for the game.

I'm sorry for you...

When will Al Davis die and let that team start on the road to recovery?

As a Jags fan, I was really disappointed they drafted Alualu in the first round. I think he's a good player, but we could've picked him up in a later round for sure.

Tebow, being from Jacksonville, would have brought in the Gator fans. They'd watch him stir the Gatorade fer chrissakes. Last season there were more blackouts than not and I'm afraid that this team may be cooed by Los Angeles.

Yeah yeah, build the team for the long term. But what if there isn't a long term?
