Entry Fee = $50. Treasurer Sandman67. See page 3 for PayPal info, IM for postal address.

Prizes TBD. I propose $50 to 3rd Place, $100 to 2nd Place and the remainder (after any MO fees, etc) to the league winner.

League settings can be viewed at the league page (see link above).

Roster:
QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, WR/RB, K, D/ST, BN x6 (15 player roster)
Draft:
$50 auction for rounds 1-3, "regular" snake draft for following rounds. We will use the Yahoo! default draft rankings for the auction.

Auction procedure:
We'll use the Yahoo! default draft ranking as the auction order. Bidding is open, but you can only buy three players. The Commissioner will maintain a spreadsheet while the auction is going to make sure that nobody bids more than they can pay. Max bid will be $48 (leaving $2 for two $1 bids at the end of the auction). I still have the spreadsheet from last season if you want it.

The Commissioner will start a thread here in Sports Talk for the top ranked player and the bidding will commence. After three minutes or so, The Commissioner post "Going Once", wait 30 seconds or so, "Going Twice", wait, "Gone". If a bid comes in before "Gone" it will go back to "Going Once". When that auction ends, we'll start the bidding on the next player. When all 12 GMs have filled three roster spots, the auction will end.

Plan on the whole process taking several hours.

After the auction:
You WILL go to your Yahoo! team page and edit your pre-draft rankings so that the three players you won in the auction are your top three. This way, if you are late for or miss the live draft your team will still get the three players you bought in the auction. Do not screw this up.

Rules
changes from 2009:
Roster reduced from 16 to 15 players - 6 bench spots down from 7.

Special team return TDs now score 6 pts to the scoring player AND the team D/ST. Only the D/ST gets points for return yardage.

Waivers are now based on a Rolling Reverse Order of Standings - priority is reverse order of standings but the priority changes with every pick. If the last place team makes a claim, the next team on the list gets top priority for any remaining player.

No shit.

Let's see it we can avoid getting any account warnings this year.

Weren't we going to eliminate one bench position this year? Remember last year when there were no good options on the free agent list?

I thought so, but at least Sandy thought we should not. We could certainly put it to a vote.

The size of the roster was 16 last year and 15 the year before. I wasn't around before that. FWIW, the Yahoo! default is 15.

The other divisive issue was return TDs and to a lesser extent return yardage being scored to the individual and/or the D/ST. FWIW, the Yahoo! default credits both the individual and the DST with a TD but only the DST gets points for return yardage.

ETA - Yahoo! default scoring gives no points for return yardage.

I am fine with 15 as long as that is the majority. I do however prefer 16.

That 16th spot is great for mining players like last year's Austin Collie.

Yeah, it was great having him on the bench every time he scored.

I vote smaller.

Let's review the keeper format again briefly. I drink a lot, so I've already forgotten.

Say I draft AD in the first round and he blows three ligaments. I trade him to you for Donte Stallworth and Darren Sproles. If you keep him, he counts as a first rounder next year. If you change your mind and drop him, he gets a new value the next time he's drafted.

I am fine with either size bench. Personally, I would prefer 15, but I think that there are finds out there with 16.

As far as return yardage, I like the idea of the return yardage being credited to the individual player and not the defense.

I hate that idea.

Hester and D Jack will have a minimal role in the return game this year.

Cribbs is a marginal offensive starter, at best.

For this to make sense, we need a dozen guys who occasionally have an impact on offense and special teams. They are just not there.

Default setting is cool.

I agree 100% -if I'm going to budge on the 16 to 15 man roster, then this I must insist we do not change. We're already changing enough this year, lets not make it anymore confusing.

Last year we had some complaints about the waiver wire. I think they were legitimate.

In 2008 we used a rolling list to determine waiver priority. The priority was the reverse of the draft order and it only changed if somebody made a claim.

In 2009 we used a reverse order of standings waiver priority that allowed the higher priority team to make unlimited claims. I'll admit that I changed it with minimal discussion. It was mentioned early in the 2009 thread and nobody said anything until the middle of the season when somebody got two claims in one week. When I changed it I did not realize that the system allowed for multiple waiver claims by a team in the same week.

This year Yahoo! offers what I thought we were getting last year and what I believe is the fairest waiver priority system. It's a rolling reverse order of standings priority system. The priority is set after the games end and the higher priority team gets only one waiver claim before moving to the bottom of the list.

1) Is sandy the treasurer again for sure? If so, sandy shoot me a PM with ur paypal info and total to cover PP fee.

2) can we do the draft stuff on sundays? (especially the second one on aug 21st as my GF is throwing a bday party for me)

I sent Stinky Beer Man an IM with instructions for joining the league. If anyone else is have trouble, just IM me and I'll get you set up.

I don't have a problem with changing the draft date(s) at all. Sunday evenings are as good as Saturday evenings for me. IMO, the later (date, not hour) the better. We could do the auction on Sunday 8/22 and the snake draft the next weekend or even the next day.

ETA - The season opener is on Thursday 9/9 so we could draft as late as 9/5-6.

Who the hell cares what he thinks about the spill. Or the price of tea in China.

If he is a legitimate FF owner/GM, I don't care what he thinks.

Of course, YMMV.

I don't think it will matter anyway. Most of the owners in this leaue are going on year 5 now. The only spot I see questionable for returning is Berserkers and I see he already joined so my bet is no open spots this year for new owners.
Of course we won't know for sure until the cash starts flowing in.

Lets pick a treasurer and start that ball rolling -yes?

I volunteer to do it again, but if someone else wants it -go for it. Only requirement I ask we consider is that its an orginal owner.

The commissioner in waiting hasn't even joined the Yahoo! league yet. I expect that Big_Bear and ar15bubba will both join, but neither has even posted in this thread yet.

I'm as ready as anyone - I can send my $50 anytime. I don't do PayPal - at least, I don't accept PayPal as a form of payment - so unless everyone wants to mail me a check (which I doubt) then I'm out as treasurer. I don't have any problem with a second treasurer term for you, Sandman67, but I didn't keep your address on file.

I think we need Big_Bear to chime in and probably have him start a new thread if he's going to take over as commissioner. As a moderator, he probably has the ability to edit my OP but he probably won't want me to have the ability to edit the "official" league thread OP.

As long as the majority of the owners vote to keep me as treasurer again, I'll do it.

Big Bear has a history of chiming in (posting) and joining the league at the last minute. So it may be a while before we hear from him

It will be difficult for him to manage the league if he's not going to join until the last minute.

Well.....here's where we are at.

1. Wobblin cannot commish due to time issues and he almost had a nervous breakdown last time he tried it
2. Bear admitted a few years ago he didn't care for it, so I am not so sure how willing he will be to do it now just because by default he won the league and inhereted the job. Unfortunately he is not aroudn to ask.
3. I am fine with Tom taking the reigns again. But there are other older owners that may want a shot and I think we should allow them the chance if Bear decided he does not want it.

I don't have a problem with the commissioner role. Frankly, I kind of enjoy it. If anyone has any objection to me being the commissioner for a second year in a row - or if somebody else wants the job themselves - I don't have any problem handing over the title.

So if we proceed with me as commish and Sandy as treasurer, the next step will be a drop dead date for joining the league. July 31?

Sandy, you may as well IM everyone with your PayPal and/or postal address so we can get the money to you.

If my math is correct, you'd need to send $51.80 in order to net $50 from PayPal.
Sandman67  [Team Member]
7/8/2010 11:53:16 AM
Time is going fast, I'm not sure what date we had everyone's money by last year? Can you look that info up Tom?

Why don't we give everyone until Monday midnight to nominate themselves as treasurer. If no one steps up, I'll offically do it again.

Please understand -I will gladly do it again but I want to keep it fair.

****Notes for next year to everyone -this league does not just pop up and startup automatically. It takes a little doing and if you want to be a part of it you need to get in here early and make your voice heard. Otherwise the same people will be running it. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but if someone else wants to do something I want to give them the opportunity. But it just can't be at the last miniute is what Im trying to say. You need to start posting in early June.

I think last year's winner should be required to be commish the following year. It's not supposed to be fun. Call it a handicap.

I just checked in, and was asked in the original post to 'justify' a 'troll" post in order to be on the list.

It wasn't a troll post. It ruffled some feathers, to be sure, but it was intended as a thought-provoking look at the relative size of catastrophes in this country, the responses to those catastrophes, and public perception about what is or isn't appropriate action to take as a response to those catastrophes. Pointing out that conservatives on this site perceive action by a Republican president (hero) as being automatically so much better than action by our current president (asshole) is in no way 'trolling.' Get over it.

Oh, and I'm not 'justifying' anything. If you want to base your invitation into a fantasy football league on some sort of "must be like us" criteria, then have fun guys.

I can't find any reference to a due date for money but you posted on 7/12/09 that IMs were sent with PayPal and postal address to all participants. By 7/20/09 it appears that everyone was paid up.

For what it's worth, we didn't have 12 confirmed GMs last year until the 7/17/09. LarnMaster as the 12th GM.

Big_Bear chimed in on 7/16/09. I have no doubt that he's lurking in this thread regularly and chuckling about how anxious we all seem to get this thing going. Hell, he's a moderator on this forum - you know he's reading this shit and just ignoring us for fun.

I sent notifications via Yahoo! so if anybody didn't get a message it's because the e-mail address on file at Yahoo! is bad.

ar15bubba and Big_Bear will get site IMs and/or e-mails from me shortly.
