V Strom 650... your opinion?

I may be biased.... 14k on mine. ridden it all over the west. Not as light and nimble as my VF500 that it replaced but great mileage, nice for longer trips. con is a slightly smaller than it should be alternator, making you limit the amount of crap you can bolt on, fog lights, GPS, Ipod charger, and only 1 heated vest...

also doesn't come with center stand and long trips really need one, buy it and attach, simple actually.

Great bike. I've ridden my buddies, and he has been all over the damn place on it. He's got it tricked out with all things ADV, and it makes a killer wanna-be BMW GS.

Great "do it all" bike. Buy with confidence.

Local dealer sold three of them today along with a new SV 650 and a used SV650 and SV1000.

My 'next' bike may end up being a wee-Strom.

Either that or a Honda NT700V, although the Strom has been in the US longer, and likely has a lot more domestic aftermarket support.

How does this compare to the versys?

This. Its a fantastic bike that will do everything within reason. I've been riding for 25+ years and have had everything from Aprilia to BMW to Harley Davidson, the weestrom is a terrific machine.

My opinion, I want to buy one ASAP.

The V-Strom is a more capable machine off-road and there is a much larger aftermarket for the V-Strom.
