Howdy everyone,

First off I want to say this is NOT a for sale add. I need help pricing some stuff I have in my garage.

I have a 350 Chevy motor out of my old 72 3/4ton truck. It ran awesome when I took it out and burned no oil on a 400mile trip. It has headers, carb, alternator, everything. What is it worth?
I also have a Turbo 350 (4wd) that was behind it along with a TH400 (2wd). Any idea on a price for those?

Thanks for your help

For me, ebay auction selling prices set the low end. Of course, it's hard to find an exact match on some items - but you can get a general ballpark.

Assuming that it's a 4-bolt main with quality dress components included, I'd guess I'd be willing to pay around $750 for a turn-key 350...

ETA: The price of a GM crate 350 kinda sets the high end. The cheapest longblock shows $1600 on Summit...

72 truck engine. It should be a 4 bolt main with a forged steel crank IIRC. I have one out of a 72 jimmy squirreled away.

Depends on how badly you want to get rid of it.

Probably $300.00 for the engine and 150.00 each for the transmissions.

You have to figure if someone is going to buy them they are probably going to overhaul them so they aren't going to give a lot of money for them.

Thats what I was thinking. I don't need to get rid of them but they are taking up room. I can wait for a good price. I was thinking about $500 for the motor and $300 for each trans. Is that fair?

There are several junkyard search engines that will show you the going rates of used parts in your area.

This one works pretty well for me: http://www.car-part.com

There is also something to be said for buying from a person who knows the history of the parts. The junkyard stuff is often a roll of the dice.

call your local boneyard and ask them what they want for a Motor and Transmissions. Generally speaking if the yard is reputable at all they will offer a gaurantee that it runs or will pull(trans) and you can base your prices from there.

If you were closer I'd be interested in all 3

Just take the $$$.

They won't be appreciating any time soon and take up space.

The old small block Chevys are becoming pretty undesired with the LS motors so available. Just my opinion though.
