Chevy announces new V8 RWD sedan dubbed "SS".
Don't know how a feel about the car being called "SS" but it should be a sweet sports sedan.
Info here
It's not as hideous as the last Holden they imported. Hopefully won't be as big a turd either.
So its a civi version of the Caprice PPV? Couldn't see that coming since they've never done that before..

No. The Caprice is on a long wheel base version of the same chassis though. This car is based on the short wheel base VF Commodore. The Pontiac G8 was based on the last generation VE Commodore if that helps.

I kinda liked the new GTO, especially the later models with the LS2. Never had one though so it could very well be a turd.

Want to buy mine? I need to get rid of this damn thing.
So does this mean Chevrolet is about to go tits up and get the axe like the last division selling this type car?
We can only hope for consumers everywhere. They can keep Chevy trucks under the new "bowtie" brand (like RAM)
From everything Ive heard, this will be Chevys new police packaged vehicle.

I guess it really depends how they are going to go about it...If they plan on selling a low volume V8 performance car they will do alright.... If they plan to go big they better include a V6/base option for hopefully around 25k..Dodge/Chrysler seems to be doing alright with their Charger/300

The Caprice PPV is the new police package. It is on a long wheel base version of the same chassis but not the same car.

Hot damn! Now if we could just get them to import the El Camino version

I don't like the name "SS" as that should be a trim level, not a model IMO, but the car should be cool. The G8 was awesome, I'm bummed that died so quick when Pontiac was killed.
I am worried this car won't look aggressive enough though. The Holden looks pretty good, but I read a blurb somewhere this would have less aggressive wheel arches for streamlined looks or something. By the time they put the same old tired bow tie grill on the front this could be a snore fest even with a 415-ish HP LS3 under the hood... Here's hoping it is good looking.
After seeing the Volt concept get put into production after it's changes, I'll believe this when I see it on the road. I bet it looks like a giant Cobalt.
When it comes to American v8 performance, a small block Chevy is my favorite. I hope they make something to pick up where they left off with the G8 GT/GXP. As much as I want to like the new camaro, it's too heavy and has too many blind spots.

Exactly. Something that could pursue the 3-series, maybe?

Pursue and then overtake with a nasty V8.
Fook; that would be sweet!
Lots of nice details but the body design is kind of bland. When I think of "SS" it's Camaro, Nova, Impala and Chevelle. This looks kind of like a Subaru.

The new design hasn't been revealed yet. Hopefully they will be bold with the design so that it lives up to it's name.

It's unlikely, the new Caprice PPV even looks like they just took the Impala body style and wrapped it around the Commodore. The idea of a V8/RWD sedan is nice though, since Ford is no longer playing this game - you only have the chocie of a Dodge Charger among the domestic big 3.

That is a purpose built police car. They aren't competing with styling with that product. It is a utility product. The SS will only have performance and styling to bank on.

Just like the G8, where they basically slapped on new badges and a Pontiac grille?
Even the Holden Commodores in Australia looks like a generic Chevy from the front and rear.
The HSV Holden / Vauxhall VXR8 looks better though. Maybe we will get a VXR8 Bathurst Edition with the ultra-loud supercharger that sounds like "a million squirrels being thrown into the woodchipper"

That makes my naughty bits tingle.
Great idea, but GM
will screw it up.

There is only one American car company. Fuck GM and Chrysler.
Ford is the only choice for Patriots.
