I just got my green book and Dunbar practice chanter.

Any established pipers here that can provide any advice to a beginner?

Take lessons from someone that can play. Look around for a band in your area that will take on students.Every student that we got that tried to learn on their own had to unlearn all their bad habits. Look for a program called bagpipe music writer, BMW. It made it easier for me to learn tunes by playing along with it.
