Game Changers?
While I like seeing all the stuff at SHOT that I will never own ($2500 semiauto 5.56/$1500+ bolt gun/carbine conversion for a pistol ( forbidden fruit NFA headaches

)/ ANOTHER piston 'upgrade' upper/rifle...what are the game Changers for us middle/lower middle class guys? where's the must have stuff that will affect the way or what i hunt/carry/ or put in my rangebag?
IE I whooped and hollered seeing the MOE handguards in Middy and Rifle length
my eyes lit up seeing BDM mags with steel lips!!!
these are 100% "MUST HAVE" GAMECHANGERS for me
I am hoping to see more game changers pop up today...that weird revolver is interesting, as is the S&W lightweight .357. -these are possibly gamechangers
somebody could make a killing with a <$275 polymer .22 AR upper (if S&W can do a $400 polymer gun, I believer an AR compatible upper is possible).
also 4th gen Glock w. ambi mag release actually catches the eye of the Glock hater...
and even though single shot isn't my thing, by T/C intoducing a .22 and 12 GA-that's mainstream gamechanger's
also looking for new cheap reactive targets....
anybody see any Gamechangers? Do share....
ETA:
Keltec's 30rnd .22 mag semi auto
Mossberg 510 shortest length of pull shotty
Heck even I may consider a Judge that is that light...
I don't think you'll see anything game changing in this year's SHOT. At best you'll see something that can upgrade you from the top hat to the racecar, but that's about it.
Yah this seems to be a slightly lower-key SHOT show...
ATI's box-mag shotgun based on the AR platform.
That might bring more box-mag shotgun systems to the table other than the saiga.

New piston AR stock that claims to eliminate the problem with carrier tilt
New option for polymer AR mags

Anybody got a link?
possible gamechanger at 1:40
Anyone know the ETA on BDM mags with steel lips?
I have been resisting the whole piston upper thing until that RRA new piston gun. Side-folder stock to me is where it's at for a new AR. I need a little brother for a DSA para FAL.

And at $1335 MSRP (for the pistol) well.....game on!
would that put the rifle at about $1400-$1500 MSRP?

Vang Comps side saddle
Mega's monolithic upper.
Green illumination ACOGs
Spyderco automatics
Ruger 22/45's with real 1911 grip panels
I was just thinking the same thing as the OP. Larue's new gun while nice is clearly evolutionary and all the copy cat .308 and piston guns are 100% nothing new. where are the cool accessories? is Magpul the only one making cool affordable shit?
Spike's new lower looks amazing. I believe they are the first to incorporate an ambi bolt release AND catch. and the lower has a whole bunch of other goodies on it

I saw something in another thread about a $200 5.56 suppressor from Vltor.
Troy has mags, stock, grips.
New Troy parts.

I may have to try the mags......might as well

Shit I missed Spikes booth.
FUCK!!!
Sorry, but KAC has been making the SR-25 for quite some time now, and it's 100% ambidextrous.

Well it does double as a paddle, should your motorboat break down.

It looks like a bag of hammered dog crap. No way would I buy that ugly thing.
Well the ACR seems poised to sell a metric shit load of rifles for other companies like Robinson armament, styer (sp?), MSAR, and FN...
wouldn't that be considered a game changer?

I had mixed feelings on it. I ended up deciding I didn't like it because of the difficulty I had adjusting it. AND of course it's ugly.

I might get flamed, but I didn't really like the ACR and how it felt. It might have been ok with optics, but looking through the factory "irons", it just doesn't fit me.

Nobody is bashing the ACR for how it felt, I handled it at the NRA 08 here (loved it I'm handicapped to being a LH shooter total ambi is worth alot to me) in KY and talked with the Magpul rep Bushmaster sent to promote it...I explained how I was so eager for it, how I called Magpul back in 07 after watching Future Weapons, and wanted to order one immediately. asked the price point (around $1500 MSRP)...begged him to hurry I had $1500 waiting for my milspec "Future Weapon" that was both 5.56 and 7.62X39...
So yes the high price point and crappy barrel are definitely game changers for a game I've been in for 3 years...now looking at the RRA in the vid on page one... Watch the video here-there's alot of promises for "Hope and Change" that turned out to be "Hype and spare change" in what the ACR is today
It was marketed as a true GameChanger...it is a true Disappointment
They kind of seem to be BEGGING the .guv to bring the D.D. hammer right down on their heads with this one (not that I do not like the gun. It is hot!).

I did not think there could be something worse then AR stuff bolted to AKs. I was wrong, the AK grip on AR15 is

Yea, that is what I am thinking as well. Hopefully enough people jump on and enough companies start making them that the ATF decides it would be more of a hassle to put a stop to it.
The Troy Battle Mags are nice. I'll probably buy a few.

Maybe my mind is going, but from memory they look
darn similar like those "Syntec" mags that showed up not too long ago. I bought a pair for posterity, but upon visual inspection deemed them FTF practice only. Please correct me if I'm wrong and I'll pick up a pair to check them out.
Frankly, if the grip fits, use it. Export rifles have to fit smaller bodied soldiers, and a smaller grip is practically unobtainable on the market. Plus, if it does resemble the AK, so what? Lots of four rail handguards out there that look like CNC art and what do we do? Cover them with ladders. WTH about that?
Gamechanger - VFG's with lights and lasers. All you need is a 4" piece of rail now. Whatcha gonna do with the other 44"? Again, makes those expensive four rails useless.
Gamechanger - Lone Wolf with their version of a Gen 4 Glock lower. Now I can upgrade my Gen 1. If it's affordable. So can 10's of thousands of other Glock owners. It will look like EVERYBODY has a new Gen 4. It will make building a Glock as easy as building a 1911.
Gamechanger - more pistons that are all proprietary designs with no parts back up or commonality. This will cause the "gotta top that" American buyer to fragment the market and further confuse the newbs about what is really going on - marketing a new twist that doesn't really do anything better. And it may all blow up if a COTS trial causes the market to kill off the low ranked competitors.
Gamechanger - the ACR comes out with the same price as a Robinson or SCAR. Maybe the naive will begin to understand what really goes on. MSRP at $2700, FFL at $2100, what for an order of 5.000? Subtract another $600, and $1500 is possible. Just what Magpul said. Obviously ECON 101 is not taught at the Mall where so many teens seem to get their education these days. Maybe if they put down their netbooks and phones, they could find out what the real world is all about.
Gamechanger - SHOT trying to politely reduce the number of hummers and thumber lookie loo's with no valid purpose attending a commercial trade show. Really, how many came with actual budgetary control over real money and could sign a contract on the spot? I hope the promoters continue to restrict access. I'm getting all I want from blogs and pics.
Gamechanger - so much interest in Magpul and other product introductions that the average consumer is now looking at SHOT like car buyers watch Detroit or New York car shows. We are getting into the industry deeper and looking further to understand what innovators and designers are thinking. Whether it's a Circuit Judge carbine or Your Favorite Brand introducing another 1911, we can find out about it earlier with all the coverage.

Maybe I'm blind, the Troy magazine is not remotely close to the Syntec model.

Ok, trash Troy for an effort.
But, what do they have? A low snags adjustable stock. Looks like it fits a standard buffer tube. Big slopes for a decent cheek weld, ambidextrous, no molded mud traps, a stock adjustment that isn't a big ugly lever, and storage. The butt is rounded both ways and angled appropriately.
I guess it is hammered dog crap for not resembling ultra high speed technical operator stuff designed for the lowest government bid. GOOD. Everyone molds stuff with waffle surfaces because injection molding is cheap that way.
If it does hold a 20 rounder It would help justify the paddle. Otherwise, yeah, it's not quite there. Just trim it off.

Its more along the lines of Troy version of the KAC PDW grip IMO

Why is no one else talking about this rumor? I was asking about it last night in the IRC room and everyone was ignoring me. This would be definitely be a game changer. I would happily pick this up.

Actually a $300 reflex supressor. That is the good news.
Bad news: it seems to require a proprietary barrel and its called "Volks."
I must be the strange one. I think all that Troy stuff looks cool. Different does not automatically mean bad.
