Is my huge lab normal?
No. You'll love that dog.
Labs are great dogs.

He's been great since 8 weeks old, He's a little slow and lazy but he's strong as hell. Couldn't ask for a better lab.
My 110 lb black lab Bleaux says Hi .

nice! Dallas says hi back.
Thats a big boy there

. As long as he has a proper diet he should be good. My largest Lab (out of four) was 125 lbs but he was a little overweight.
Which brand of food are you feeding him and how much?
Sadie May is a big black lab too. She is 105 lbs. She also thinks she's much bigger than she really is. She won't walk through a door unless you open the door wide. Otherwise she just looks at like she's saying, come on, how do you expect me to get through there?
Beniful lam and rice, 31/2 to 4 cups once a day.
That's a pretty pup and sounds about right weight size.
The black/meth lab in the pic below is about 13 months old and weigh's ( 95-100lb's ) But god he's a picky eater.

my dog eats anything! from my daughters shoes to fobus holsters lol he's understanding what to chew on what not to.

Compare the ingredients b/w the Beneful food and Diamond Naturals. Try Diamond for two months and see what the differences are in your Lab. Ours has shed much less, lost 5 lbs, his skin is in great shape and he has a beautiful glossy sheen to his coat.
Im really wanting to change his food up but this Army Infantry pay is not so great! I am going to try and swing it soon he's a great dog! He sheds like crazy and has a few dry spots, going to start giving him fish oil pills until i git him on some good food.

We give our two guys fish oil as a supplement too. It works very well on Labs.
FWIW Diamond Naturals cost $28/40lbs at Tractor Supply here. I save a couple gallons of gas and buy closer to home but pay $32/40lbs at a local feed store.
Diamond is a nation wide brand at you can find local stores at their website.
The best food they sell on my base is the beneful! found a local pet store close that I'm going to start giting the new food from after this last bag is gone
When you have a dog fixed can influence how he grows. Generally neutering a male when he is young causes him to grow longer and grow more.
People in the USA have this attitude that 'bigger is better' and a lot of the common pet breeds that are also larger dogs are being bred bigger than their standard size because we Americans always want 'the biggest one' German Shepherds and Labs are two breeds where it should be rare to find a dog in good shape over 85 pounds, but where 100 pound examples are becoming the norm.
And for the record, when push comes to shove, the 65-75 pound examples of both can out-run, out jump, out maneuver, and outlast the larger dogs.
ook! I wanted a big dog but i did not think 130 pounds big. But i wouldn't trade my lab for any other.
That dog doesn't look anywhere near 130. My dog weighs 80 and looks larger. Have you confirmed that weight?
Oh i am sure! He goes to the vet and goomers ones a month. The pics do him no justice lol. I m going to take him this weekend befor i switch his dog food to moniter is weight gain or lose with the new food!
I finally made the switch on dog for I went with diamond. Both the lab and yorkie eat it like its anything else!

+1
IMHO giant labs are ruining the breed. Labs should be 50 to 65 lbs tops. A 120 lb lab will swamp your duck boat if he jumps out wrong. Hauling his ass back in? You're a better man than me.....

Costco's "Kirkland" brand is made by Diamond and is a bit cheaper.
I'm not sure it's the exact same but the ingredient list is pretty close.

IMHO labs are normally 65-80 lbs! And were not breed to jump in and out of duck boats thats what owners/hunters evolve them into. In his defense his parents and grand parent were champion bloodlines from alaska and only weighed 70lbs-mom and 85 lbs for the dad. Not sure why I have a 130 lber lol. and hes in way better shap than I am. I can take him for a normal 2 mile run and hes barley breathing hard afterwords.

Excellent. Give it a few months but your big guy will lose weight since there are no fillers in the food. Our Black Lab went from 95 lbs to 88 and has stayed there for two years. Also, you'll notice that you won't have as much doggie poo to clean up. His coat will become very glossy and he will not shed near as much.
Make sure to post his improvements.
