Popcorn ... what's your favorite way to make it ?
My kids love it.
Back in the day we used either some oil in a pot on the stove top, or the hot-air popper thingys, or occasionally, the "jiffy pop" contraptions ...
But now-a-days, what's the best method for making the most-bettah homemade popcorn
Stove top in the whirly pop, oil+butter+seeds=WIN! add some salt and enjoy

Niiccce ...
Gonna have to get one one.
Microwave easy easy...
Peanut oil in a large non stick pan (with a lid)
Put the fire on high and wait about a minute to 1:30 for the oil to get hot.
Put your popcorn into the pan, put on lid, shake once or twice to coat kernels.
Wait until it's done popping.
Add popcorn salt (seasalt ran through a coffee grinder is awesome) and fresh melted butter. For me add some Tony's as well.
Donezo.
microwave plus cayenne pepper.
Hot oil using peaut oil. Then slap on real melted butter and parmesean cheese
I use the Stir Crazy popcorn maker

I'm a big fan of the Presto Airpopper I've had for some time. Easy clean up, my wife likes it, and we have it pour the popped corn into a bowl we can put a lid on to mix the butter and seasoning. My wife and I are big fans of parmesan cheese and garlic powder with butter, but to be responsible-ish for what I eat, I will eat it plain for a snack late at night.

+1 on the Presto Poplite air popper. They work really well.

A little while back we discovered that Bacon Salt on popcorn is fan-friggin'-tastic ...
I don't like popcorn. I hate how the kernel fragments get caught in your teeth.
Most of the time, I use one of those microwave popcorn poppers, then dump it into a big bowl. Spray with some cooking spray, sprinkle with popcorn salt. Toss. Repeat cooking/spray and salting until it's right for you. A little lighter in calories than the conventional way. Not as tasty as the Alton Brown stuff.
stove top is the best.
once its popped, pour the hot popcorn
in a paper grocery bag,add seasonings,
and hold the top of the bag shut, and shake it.
it comes out perfect this way every time.

That's interesting. I never would have guessed that you could actually cook something in one of those stainless steel bowls.
Also interesting (as AB was mentioning the shape of the cooker), just yesterday I was actually wondering if a wok might not be a really great popcorn maker.

We normally use a great big plastic storage bowl with a lid to do the same thing. But I do remember hearing about the paper bag method many, many years ago.
I wonder if the results are any different. May have to do some experimenting.

Sure - if it's big enough.
I bought a set of three stainless mixing bowls from Sam's, and the biggest one is huge - exactly what he used.

I tried the alton brown method twice and it's just rubbish. It's entirely too complicated for the same product you can make in a pot on the stove.

Might as well call it crack
BTDT ...
And you're right, that kind of "seasoning" helps to make some VERY tasty popcorn.
Wow...I can't remember the last time I made it on the stovetop.
While nuking it may not be the best, it's by far the easiest.

Microwaving pre-made bags is the easiest, for sure. And out of convenience, we've certainly made our fair share.
However ... I'm now interested in making premium, top-shelf homemade popcorn ...

Me, too.
SS pot on high with a goodly amount of fresh lard, pop it while heating up some butter in the 'wave.
Put into a large bowl, pour on some butter, add some popcorn salt, mix up, add some more butter and there you go.
Using the paper bag is the best by far. However, paper bags are going the way of the dodo around here.
Hot air - healthyist - FTW
