Do you still trust the EE?

I have used it in the past with zero problems but with all the talk lately about people being ripped off/ stolen from. Kinda makes me weary to sell there anymore. You guys trust the EE these days?

Wasn't there one guy with a ton of positive feedback that welched on a deal?

The EE is fine.

I don't play the string you along thing, if you want it you will send me the money in 5 days.

If I don't have it by then I move on and don't waste any more time with you.

Has worked very well for a long time.

I also call or ask them to call me before we do any transaction, this usually weeds out the tire kickers.

I tend to impulse buy shit, than regret buying it before it hits my door, then i open it and get excited again.

Shopping like that on the EE would be bad. You can make a deal to buy it, wait for a reply, purchase a money order and change your mind before you mail it... my buyers remorse is strong so i avoid the EE.

I have sold one item (life member, had the item in hand before i had the money order), bought one thing and backed out of one

I have a lot more more guys say "I'll take it" and then weasel out than in the old days. That never used to happen, now it has happened 2-3 times for some of the items I have sold recently.

No one always comes to GD to talk about a normal routine transaction over the EE, but if they have a bad experience that is not normal you bet your ass you'll hear about it.

Still tons of good folks in EE. You just don't hear about them.

I recently lost a significant, for me, amount of money due to a postal error. I suspect I was scammed by the buyer but cannot prove so. It has changed the way I will sell things in the future. I will not sell to people who only come here for the EE anymore. Actively participating members only from now on.

I've never had a bad deal in the EE.

One issue with how a payment was sent but the payment was sent (just a PITA for me to get it). Honestly no fault of the sender I now have every thing sent to my work.

i've bought 1 thing of the EE. I posted a WTB add a member contacted me, said he had it. I mailed him a check, and waited a bit, and waited a bit more. I emailed him a couple days later and he says "oh shit i thought i already mailed it with some other stuff" and I have it the next day.

Generally I dont Fuck with the EE. Rarely can i not find something locally at a decent price, and I have yet to buy a gun online and screw with having it shipped to an FFL and then transferring.

If they don't have some feedback then forget it unless I am familiar with the poster.

There are lots of "members" whose only posts are from the EE.

For years, active members have mentioned restricting access to the EE until a member has "x" number of posts in other forum areas.

And I've never had a problem on the EE. I only deal with longtime members with good feedback. I ignore new, non-team members with little/no feedback.

Why not ask if we trust guns? It's not the item used, it's the person using it.

I've been scrounging the EE a lot lately. In fact I'm looking for a DD lite rail now.

I have no problem with it. However, with the new feedback, I feel a lot better buying from someone who I've never seen post if they have 20+ positive.

The other thing is, I want to use a CC or pay pal. That way, I can pay from my couch and be done with it. I usually just pass on any ad that says some bullshit like USMO only. It isn't worth the hassle to me.

Obviously YMMV

Not only do I look at feedback but I try and keep the deal local. If I am selling, I give discounts for local deals. If I am buying, I look for a local item. If it has to be remote, I try and get a phone number and address and verify both before committing to the deal.

I have never had a problem with our EE!

When I sell to people on here that I have known for years {Lifers & Teamers) I usually ship it when they say they have mailed the MO or Check.

I trust members who have been around a while and/or have good feedback. Good feedback to me doesn't just mean 100%. It means several EE transactions.

I have bought about 5 firearms stemming from 2004 till last year and sold 2, among other accessories purchased. I have never had a problem.

My biggest gripe is people not leaving feedback, even after you ask them to and you bend over backwards for them.

I have forgotten to leave feedback before.

That said, I have made 10+ more transactions than I have gotten feedback for. I get lots of low-ballers and sob stories whenever I post something. And I usually under-cut the market by $20 just to get it sold. It's almost as bad as Craigslist (minus the Nigerian spam). But never been ripped off.

I liked it better before I was an EE mod

I don't buy much from there anymore and, if I do, it is from a well-established member with flawless feedback.

only had one "welcher"

what does bother me is that people do not leave feedback. I leave feedback as soon as my part of the deal is completed. I hate to run after people for feedback and stopped doing that.

the other thing is that there are people that are only here for the EE. In my opinion there should be some sort of general guideline for it.

I don't blame you, and the key is dealing with long-time members, although it isn't a guarantee, it increases the odds of a smooth transaction. It is heads and above other forums though, due to the diligence of the mods. It's a thankless job, but it IS appreciated.

As long as the Mods keep watch over it as they have been, I will continue to trust it. No EE anywhere is immune from fraud, theft, welchers, etc. However, the Mods take swift and impartial action against those who abuse it.

I've done many deals on the EE and only had one go sour. I was selling a large lot of parts and within the first few hours had received well over 25 e-mails and pm's. Well, one guy inquired about my delta ring set for $10 and said he'd take it, so I told him it was his and gave him my phone number and address to send the USPS MO to since he insisted on a MO. Well, about 12 hours later, another person inquires about the delta ring set.

Forgetting I had already sold the first guy and thinking he had only inquired, I sent him an e-mail asking if he was still interested and if so, to please let me know ASAP as I had another buyer. About 4 days go by and I hear nothing from him so I e-mail the second buyer back asking if he is still interested. He responds to the affirmative so he pays by PP and I ship it out the next day.

Well, about 2 days later, I get a nasty phone call about 10 pm. He basically asked WTF is going on? After some initial confusion and checking of my e-mails which confirmed I had indeed promised him the delta ring set, I sincerely apologized to him and told him I would immediately send his money back as soon as it arrived as I had already mailed off the part. Well, this was not good enough for him. He proceeded to call me every name in the book, and as I had been using my AKO (army e-mail) address at the time, he knew I was in the military. He threatened to have me court marshalled (he was not military), threatened to call the police, etc.

I repeatedly apologized to him for the misunderstanding and again told him I would send his money back. After a 2 hour long rant and screaming session from him, he finally hung up. One of his more memorable quotes and one I laugh about now was when he said, and I quote... "my daddy always said that the mark of a man is his word, and you Sir are no man!" He then begins to go on about how dishonorable I am, saying that if this is what soldiers are like now a days, the military is screwed, etc. Being a little unerved about his behavior and some of the threats he made, I went out and got a voice recorder I could hook to my cell phone in case he called back. Sure enough, the next evening about 8 pm, he calls back.

Again, he is irrate and I try to again reassure him that I will make things right. This time, he not only demands a refund, but he demands I pay him "extra" money for all this pain and aggravation I have put him through. I tell him I will give him his refund as promised. He then threatens to take this to the forum and post a -1 for me unless I give him this extra money.

When I again refuse to give into his blackmail, he makes all sorts of threats, but this time, he begins threatening me with bodily harm directly. He began telling me he was going to come to my house when I least expected it and "pay me a visit." I told him to stay away from my place and not to come near me. He began laughing and again telling me to pay up then. I again tell him he will receive his refund and nothing else and that I did not appreciate the threats to do harm to me he was making. He then begins yelling again, telling me to pay up or else.

It continues on for another 30 minutes or so with him still pissed off. After that exchange, I began carrying everywhere I went even though I did not have a CCW as I did not like this guy's mental state and he only lived about an hour or less from me. My commander at the time did not have a problem with it after I told him the story. Shortly after the second phone conversation, I contacted one of the mods on the EE about what happened and gave them all the IM's, e-mails, and the recorded phone convo. They told me not to worry and stated they would contact the member directly.

About 2 days later, his letter shows up with a note that has his address and a $10 bill paper clipped to it. I take the $10 bill, go to the USPS, get an MO for $10 and send it back. About 4 or 5 days later, I get an e-mail from him telling me he just received the money and that he is satisfied and hopes we can do business in the future. It went on to state how much he appreciates my service and hopes we can do business again and to let him know as soon as I have another parts sale.

Long story I know, but I learned several lessons from it:

1. Never give out your phone number when using the EE unless you know or trust the other party.
2. Never use your home or work address on the EE. Get a PO box.
3. Never give anyone you deal with any idea of who you are or what you do (and that includes using work e-mail addresses). If they do not need to know, then don't tell them.
4. Never be afraid to contact a Mod for assistance if you think there is a problem.

If anyone wants to know the site name of the guy I was dealing with, I'll be more than happy to tell you in e-mail or IM. I would post it here but I know that is a bit of a no-no. However, I do not want others having run ins with this unstable person. Who knows what might happen if someone else sets him off.

Feedback ain't all that on here. A couple years ago I bought an item from a guy with very high good feedback. I got something shipped to me that was not representative of the item description at all. Going through the online feedbackl bitching process on here, a couple other buyers chimed in on different issues they were having with the seller. The entire feedback process ended up being centered on preserving that guys high feedback rating than allowing us buyers to give him a negative so future buyers would be warned of him. It works to much like Ebays system now.

I'll drink to that - we have some awesome mods for the EE. I've never needed to enlist their aid, but I've seen them bend over backwards to get deals fixed. It is definitely appreciated!

I've not been burned yet on the EE, had a few near-welches from buyers but that's been the worst of it. The prices of the used gear is assine these days though. I've seen plenty an item priced higher than I can get it new from Brownells. I understand not giving stuff away, but really, your crap is USED, not new. It's like those tables with the old codgers at gun shows - used hi point for $400! Get it before it is banned!!!!11

All together, I haven't lost confidence in it. I'm just more careful in who I deal with and what deals I go after. Healthy dose of common sense required!

I recently started using the EE, and I have had no problems yet. Everyone I have dealt with has been stand up individuals. EE is better than Ebay, especially for firearms related items.

It depends on the person, the EE is what it is.

I look at whether someone is a Team Member first and then look at feedback and then join date.

If im the seller (which is most of the time), Im more protected as Im only waiting on funds and not actually putting any money out. And when I ship, I protect myself with Delivery Confirmations and Insurance.

If I'm the buyer, I really pay attention to Team, Feedback and join date and will search out names to get an idea of what kind of person Im dealing with.

I don't use the EE b/c I believe there are insane people here, plus I've stuck my foot in my mouth more than a few times in GD and never want to meet up with anyone from this website (except for two guys I know in real life). Fortunately I have access to a network where guns and gun parts can be sold very easily.
