It was okay. Not great, but somewhat amusing. Johnny Depp was funny as usual, good actor. It had it's good parts, but not really worth the price of admission (with today's ticket and snack prices). All things considered, I'd have rather gone to see Avengers a second time (saw that last week) and waited for Dark Shadows on DVD. But it was my son's birthday yesterday and I gave him the choice, he chose Dark Shadows. He and his brother enjoyed it anyway, so it was worth it in that respect.

Some mild sexual overtones, but nothing graphic. Some funny parts with hippies, good music from the '60s-'70s, and an appearance by Alice Cooper.

Not bad overall, but not great. I'd buy the DVD, but not pay to see it in the theater if there are more than two in your party and you're going to buy snacks. Just my opinion.

See I thought it was one of Burton's best works.

I really like some of Burton's other movies, but I thought this one was just 'okay'.

Different strokes I guess.

I think Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was Burton's finest.

I used to haul ass home from school to watch the original serial. Loved that show.

Pair had a few moments that I didn't really care for, but the script was well written, the humor hit my funny bone, and the visuals were nice.

Beetlejuice is the only acceptable answer.

What are the odds Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have Eiffel towered Helena Bonham Carter by this point?

Love Burton's dark humor. Thanks for the review. I'm not expecting gut busting laughter but mild amusement and that's fine by me.

I watched it when I was a kid in the '70s. I'd like to see the series released in an affordable package in the US. There's a complete set on Amazon for $400.

Frankenweenie comes out this fall. He directed the original and the remake.

I barely remember "Dark Shadows" when it originally aired in the late 60's up until 1971.

When I hear "remake" and "Tim Burton" in the same sentence I cringe. I just KNOW it ain't gonna be faithful to the original.

Are you sure you aren't confusing him with George Lucas?
