I tested for this job at the end of 2010. Finished up somewhere in the top six. The hired two, now they are hiring three.
The department recenty acquired a new chief, so I have to repeat the chiefs interview with the new chief.

any advice? ETA, this is for a FF/paramedic position.

supposed to know today or Tuesday. The chief was a bit unclear on when they would make the notices, telling some people Monday and some Tuesday.

Not sure how the interview went, he asked a lot of situational awareness questions that I answered lamely. I did chit chat after the interview for about a half hour. I was second or third on the list going into the chief's interview, with the number one slot being a guy with a very public and checkered past (allegations of drug trafficking involvement, then quitting the bigger city FD when the investigation started)

No job.
They hired three guys with a combined amount of experience of three years. Time to work on my exit strategy (P to RN)

That sucks man. Look at it this way, would you want to work for a department that is hiring alleged drug users?? I wouldn't. As for going P => RN, my wife loves being an RN. Matter of fact, she just got accepted to CRNA school in Texas later this year. Keep your head up, keep up the good fight, and keep being a hard charger.

The drug guy was a bit tricky. Since it was an allegation that he was involved, then he quit before anything was substantiated. Also, the state did not pull his cert, so there must not have been much evidence. It was a very public outing though.

fwiw, my wife is an RN. We both work for the same hospital. Every time I open her paycheck stub. I die a little in the inside. Since we basically do the same job, with different initials after our names.
