And those rounds won't go very far down range with the blank adapter screwed into the barrel

Basic training. She is either MOS Q or a college graduate.

She's a college grad and that's BCT. She's finished in another week and a half...but yeah that's the BRM awards. I was hoping for above average scores, but she didn't make expert. She said it's hard for for her to shoot when she has the vest and helmet and all that gear. LOVED the live grenade exercises and the obstacle courses parts though. Loves repelling and bungee jumping.

WTF is up with them wearing rank in BCT? When I went through as an E3 it didn't matter, you didn't graduate BCT yet so you weren't a soldier and hadn't earned the privilege of wearing rank. Everyone was a private. On graduation day you were allowed to pin on your rank. Also, what's up with the yellow ranger beads on her uniform? WTF is happening to BCT? EDIT: And LIPSTICK?

There is no lipstick. Those aren't "Ranger" beads, whatever those are. Those are to used to indicate water consumption.

And wearing rank is retarded.

Same with us, never saw any rank till basic training (NAVY) was over.

She's not wearing any lipstick, trust me.

Actually, I'm not too upset seeing that. In the civilian world we always preach that when you shoot you wear "eyes and ears". The Army has been providing ear plugs for a long time now (though I never used them). But more important is eye protection. We actually had a guy that was shooting from a foxhole in Georgia. I don't know what the fuck he did, but he basically shot the ground right in front of his rifle, which kicked a rock back into his dominant eye (since he was only a few inches away from the strike). We had to get him to the hospital quick... He didn't loose the eye, but he went from perfect vision to a perminant wearer of BCG's.

The dude next to her is looking surprisingly husky for basic training.

Heck, wear gloves and hearing protection at all. Lets get rid of the handguards too, who needs it.

Dude, that happened fewer than six months after you left.

Women were going to basic at Sill in like 1999.

She's probably wearing the E-4 rank because she's an 09S. Her husband said she was a college graduate, which leads me to believe she enlisted with OCS in her contract; she's probably going right after she graduates BCT. Plenty of my friends that went that route said they wore E-4 rank while they were in BCT.

It must have changed, because I got there in NOV 09 and there were no women. When I left 10 months later there were.

Sat = kill
Cong = Communist motherfuckers

I was in the Navy - Reagan years baby!

She hurt her ankle/heel tendonitis pretty early on but still made it. Final PT I think she could do 47 pushups, 67 situps. Proud of this lady, she's been sitting on her ass working in logisitics for 11 years. Gave up E7 pay grade to become an American soldier. Even if she decides later on this is not for her and returns to logistics after 4 years, that's okay with me.

Just can't get over her finally knowing a little bit about rifles, etc.

"Ranger" beads are used to keep your pace count in the woods. x number of paces = 100 meters. Walk x number of paces, move a bead up.

Of course, real Rangers just use a piece of 550 cord and tie a knot in it to keep their pace count in the field.
