I think you may have a hard time with a dog that old.
does she shy when she sees the shotgun? If she doesn't it would be a lot easier to break her. There are CD's made by mastervoices called the Gun Shy Cure. I have broken many gun shy dogs this way, however most dogs that I will break will only hunt for those they truly trust. Best of Luck.

No, you need to get the Gun Shy Cure by Master Voices and follow the instructions. She can be cured but it will be difficult. The cure will have you kennel here while playing the CD over and over on repeat (just follow the instructions) and then when she is ready (the CD will instruct you how to tell) you can bring a shotgun out with peanut butter on it and slowly get her used to it. Don't take her out shooting irregardless of the load. While I started my puppies with a .410 it isn't any quieter than my 12 gauge really. Maybe a tink. Just get the CD and love her.
