Well boating season is coming up fast and my old girl is looking faded after the past few years

in the sun. Most of the sun damage was done before I bought it. I have been storing it indoors

for the past 4 years. The black on the sides of the hull is faded a bit and it probably is best to

have it repainted, but in this economy I'm looking for an alternative. I have used Meguire's and

some type of "Gelcoat Restorer" Maybe I'm just asking too much of the products but is there

anything out there that you guys swear by?

Clear coating will last longer. If any type of wax is used it will only last 3-6 months.

Clear coating will bring back the color too? The black on the sides has faded a bit.

Darn - the only picture I have on the computer are after she's all cleaned up. But you're right - it doesn't last.

Looks like a wet sanding is in order. We have sun related fading problems here BAD! It seems nothing chemical based workes for very long. Wet sanding and then buffing works the longest.

Wet sanding. What's involved with that? Do you have to clearcoat over it or just buff. I'm not

really familiar with it. I wet sanded primer on my old car when I was in HS years ago. I assume

there is a clearcoat on the paint. I may be mistaken though. Thanks for your insight!
