What's a good tip for a guide?
I'll be going to Belize in January. Gonna throw line at some bonefish.
I've never had a guide before. So what's a good tip? Percentage?
The rate depends on the local economy and if the guide is a local. American guides may expect more, deserved or not. Basically 10% on the low end with 15-20% being the norm.
My tips normally run 20-50% and I have even received 100% tips. But I bust my ass and will fish dark to dark for a client. I also don't charge for my flies lost which count in the 20-50 per day range.
