Just returned from Maine and thought I would share a few pics from Grand Lake Stream. Fishing was slow up until dark, even though there was a big caddis hatch going on all afternoon.

This is just below the dam. The water was low so as you can see fishing was shoulder to shoulder in the larger pools.

The water was crystal clear and cold.

Just before dark some sulphurs started coming off that were mixed in with the caddis. So I tied one on, and hooked into my first land locked salmon. This is the hardest fighting fish I have ever landed. I bet it took close to 5 mins to get him in the net. I wanted to get a better picture of the fish next to my rod on the shoreline. But the fish was so worn out by the time I netted it, I figured it was best to take a quick picture and get him back into the water fast. As you can see I also made the mistake of wearing a short sleeve shirt and forgot bug spray. This was a bad idea, after releasing the fish I headed straight for the truck. The bugs ate me up so bad I couldn't stand it any longer lol. I cant wait to return in a few weeks.

Nice report!! From that first shot it looks like it was a little crowded out there.

It certainly was, I've never fly fished in a place before where it was shoulder to shoulder fishing. Grand Lake Stream is one of Maine's most popular fishing destinations, especially during this time of year.

Given the choice I like the remote spots best. However some of the species I like to target require "combat fishing"
