About a month ago I went trout fishing with the GF and her mom & stepdad .. I had previously been trout fishing as a kid but never fly fished. After trying to use a microcast type rod with a fly and getting disgusted I borrowed one of their back up rods and decided to learn to fly fish. We were fishing at Bennett Springs in MO .. I ended up catching my daily limit and for a beginner fly fisherman (complete NEWB) I thought I did decent.
Now I find myself wanting to get into the sport .. but my budget is meager to say the least. I've been shopping and trying to do my homework. I find myself looking at a Sage Vantage 9' 5 wt combo from Bass Pro that has a Sage 1650 reel, Rio line, case, etc. for $399 but its just too much money.
I've also been looking at a Temple Fork 9' 5 wt combo .. bass pro has it with their cheap in house Hobbs Creek brand reel and cheap in house brand Hobbs Creek line for $180 .. Cabela's has the same rod with their in house reel and Scientific Angler mastery line for $199

Then I find myself finding something online today and got me to thinking why not just get a basic rod combo .. although not the best it fits into the budget a little better. I just don't want to buy something to end up throwing it away. Cabelas rod combo on sale in the bargain cave for $29
