This report seems to indicate that our government or the federal reserve was behind the tungsten bars. Hmm.

They're from America. At least the 60 tons the Chinese were sold. Stick with coins.

Be careful with that idea . I have a stack of silver coins from Hong Kong , China and India . They are Chinese made copies and stick to a magnet . they appear to be silver plated . In researching this I found an article about the Chinese making other fake silver coins as well including old US dollars . 1 article even had a pictorial of the little shop making the coins They looked close but details were not as sharp

it is not economical to salt small coins and pieces due to the known dimensions and weights of each.
also, tungsten is too brittle to manipulate, and not many can do this.

larger pieces like in the story have more ambiguity.
each sizeable bar is not exact like the smaller bullion pieces and nominally vary in size -
therefore tungsen can easily go undetected.....

Is there a new law that says you can't buy or sell PM's without reporting the transaction?

I hope not...I just bought some yesterday, and didn't tell anyone about it but the XYL. A whole lotta of money for one little coin.

This is a good way to scare the masses enough to keep them away from PMs.

I don't know what to think any more.

You're thinking of the 10-99 reporting requirement from the ObamaCare law for any transaction over $600.

It was repealed.

for the little guy it's not much of an issue.

if you buy from a reputable coin dealer or someone who makes it their business to buy real coins (because they don't want to be ripped off in their purchase) then what they are selling is going to have gone through the filter of their business.

EBAY and internet sales withstanding. buyer beware.

Right! There's images online of a Chinese factory that was making fake load US coins. That is why I buy new stuff from reputable dealers.
