Ruger Takedown

This may seem gimmicky but I think it is pretty cool. Great little truck gun and would fit just about anywhere, even in my little Corolla.

Nothing is ever MSRP. My local dealer just put me on the list and they are $309.95. Considering a normal one is $229.95 in stainless, and you get the backpack/case and it's totally redesigned, I think it's a fair markup.

i really like the design, its pretty neat.......................... however, for the budget minded prepper, buy the youth model, and add a folding stock, thats a tiny package.

The youth model costs $259.95 plus the folding stock, it's more money... I never understood why the youth was more, maybe the fiber optic sights?

Why waste the money on the Ruger????

You can pick up a great little Marlin Papoose for like $260 or less....

GREAT little rifle....

A buddy offered to sell me one of those for $70. I wish I would have had the cash at the time.

Because the Ruger should only be slightly more expensive in street price and I already have a bunch of 10/22 mags. And I like a real forend. And the Ruger case looks cooler

I actually have been considering the Marlin for a while but I like the takedown of the Ruger better and of course the mag thing.

I handled one of these at a local store. The stock was top notch and the package was very light and folded up small. The only issues I had were no open sights and that handguard is ugly as sin.

Kinda wish I could get a cross between the two.

In its carrying case it will lash perfectly to your new Harley.

AGP needs to come up with a new version of their 10/22 folding stock to work with this new 10/22.

No threads. The barrel/forearm is pushed into the receiver/buttstock and rotated 45°. Locking lug engages and a locater pin snaps into place to prevent rotation. There is a slip ring that is adjusted to give a tight barrel to receiver fit. Simpler than it sounds.

My dealer has been trying to find a papoose for a while now, but I am going to tell him to cancel.

ETA: When I asked him how long it woudl be until he had in the Ruger, he just laughed.

I've been planning to build one of those but the factory one is cheaper and I've been waiting for a stainless barrel in the AGP. I'm still interested in the AGP as well if I find a cheap donor 10/22.

That's funny you mention them. I used to manage a couple of the Turners stores back about 12 years ago. I went to the website and the guy in the video describing the new Ruger is a guy I hired to work the gun counter. He's now a buyer.

FWIW - It looks pretty neat but I have a Marlin Papoose and an M6 Scout rifle (both bought when I worked for Turners) that I'll stick with.

This rifle will sell like hotcakes! I bought some Ruger stock @ $17. Might have to buy more now even though it has tripled!

Can't say I've seen a new rifle has this much of an impact on the internet shooting community in a long time, darn near every forum I frequent is awash with news about it (And that includes non-firearm forums too!)

For Rugers sake I hope they stockpiled the things before letting the Adverts go to press!

This rifle combined with a not-yet-to-market folding/collapsing/otherwise packable stock will be a winner. It gets small but could get even better with the right stock.

For that price, I am going with the AK Underfolder FTW....

because the extra 30-40 bucks gets you a much better rifle.

I don't really see much benefit to a folding stock in this case unless you SBR and go with a shorter barrel. The barrel is still 18" so if the action/stock portion is much shorter you still have to have a longer case for the barrel. The folding stock/pistol grip configuration is also bulkier.

It definitely needs a 16" barrel with provisions for tech sights.

I kinda want one....But a 16" barrel with a Butler Creek folding stock seems like a more reliable setup, faster to deploy.

The youth model has a 16" barrel, and with a choate stock (folder) it's really handy and has the fiber optic sights, pretty good compromise, esp if you have target 10-22's also
