Portable Diesel Generator Options or Recommendations

I have a couple of pretty nice gasoline powered generators and inverters....including a Honda 6500 that was every bit of $4500 to my door. Quiet as a church mouse and loads of power. Does great with my travel trailer when I want to run the AC all night but not have the noise associated with a generator.

However my truck is a diesel. And I just installed a 110 gallon auxilliary diesel tank in the bed.....

If I am bugging out....and need to take a generator with me......I'll need to take TWO types of fuel with me....and it would be ashame to have 110 gallons of diesel sitting there and no gas for the generator....

So Im looking at diesel generators.....probably in the 6500 watt range......so I can use it as an all around RV / jobsite / bug out / home aux power....powersource.

I see the diesel gennys on Northern Tool's website....

And I see the selection on Ebay as well......

Lots of refurbished milsup stuff out there too.....but most of it is 1000 lb chunks of iron that I would never be able to load...or move...if I needed to...

Whats your recommendation for a good solid portable diesel generator... A wheel kit is a must since I am assuming that it is going to be heavy...and I will be wheeling it into my pickup bed with aluminum ramps like I do with my Honda...which is only 260 lbs dry...but still too much to deadlift into the bed..

You would probably be better running an inverter off of your truck. When going diesel, those 3600 rpm models don't last any longer than the gas ones and none are quiet. Only good option is a 1800 rpm model and those are pricy. I like Kubota ones myself. Kubota Gen

Keep an eye on Craigslist in your area. Look for a used Onan RV generator, they are 1800rpm and very quiet.
