Funny, I am going to Cabo tomorrow. Was gonna try to grab something with codeine or some 800 mg Ibuprofren. I heard its not like it used to be. Ole Mexico ain't good for much these days.

Laws changing usually changes little in Latin America. 
Maybe in Mexico they are more law abbiding but its worth trying in a place or two and see if you get lucky.
That would be Amoxidal (amoxicilina) 500. Since you're going there I would also buy Claritromicina, which is an antibiotic for skin and respiratory infecitons.
Id buy a good ammount of those two.

oh... damned well forgot.... I did manage to buy antibiotics without a script at paharmcies inside the secure area in cancun last month. No issues....

I know, but my wife likes them for lady issues more then swallowing 4 pills. She thinks they work a little better. I am over in Los Barilles.

you seem to be a little behind the times. most of the pharmacies have "doctors" on site to write scripts. its there way around the "law". was talked about a LOT on the new just after the law took effect.

Okay lets take this one step at a time
I live about 12 miles from the border that is very popular with snow birds.
Heavy meds ( OXY and such will be taken from you if found).
your regular stuff like pen. amox. and any antibiotic will pass
be very careful of any meds you get in Mexico they aint all up to par

I don't know about the rest, but you can't bring CIPRO into the USA from Mexico even if you have a USA prescription. The Border Patrol never explained why.

Those doctors were there long before the "law". The doctor owns the pharmacy.
