I got tired of the Yotes eating all the rabbits around here so I decided to do something about it.Yesterday I made an El Cheapo e caller and put some of Varmintal's unhappy rabbit sounds on it.
This morning I got a late start and hit my first stand around 0930. The caller worked fine but no one showed up.
At my second stand I made the mistake of choosing the location for my caller while I was standing. When I got settled prone I found that my caller was just out of sight behind a slight rise and wouldn't you know it Wiley showed up as soon as the calling started. The Yote ran straight to my caller and just out of sight behind the rise about 75 yds. away. I was clumsy and scared him off.
It was super cool seeing him respond to my cheap caller though. I actually had him in my scope for a second but he was moving pretty fast and I thought I would get a better shot. I've been kicking myself all afternoon for blowing it.
Anyway, my question. Is it a bad idea to hit the same stands two days in a row? I don't have a large area to hunt but there are signs of MANY coyotes where I was today. Should I give it a few days or not?
Thanks

I would try it again, you may have educated one, but there is more. Info on the home made e caller!!!! Please
I'd wait a few days.
Post some pix and specs on your home made caller.

Here ya go. I used the 16 and 20 minute calling sequences today. The 20 minute got all the attention.
BTW I didn't buy the bullhorn. I bought 2 speakers at a thrift store and installed the amp and speaker cones in a hard pistol case I had laying around. I can carry it in a Camelback. I already had an MP3 player I wasn't using so the whole thing cost me about 35 dollars.
Thanks for the reply.
ETA pics of my caller.
That is frickin' cool.
IMHO, you should mention "home made 'yote call" somewhere in your thread title. I think you'd attract more attention to this thread.

Most times if they dont know you are there, you can stop a moving yote by barking like a dog at him, normally just one good bark and they stop in there tracks and look in the direction of the bark, thats when you blastem.
