Nightvision Hog Hunt Video
Shot this last night
That was interesting thx for posting...

Kewl!
What NV scope are you using? Is that one of the new ones based on the high sensitivity Sony CCD instead of the traditional microchannel tube?
It looked like the new Pulsar. I have wanted to look through one, thanks for the vid.

Yes, it does. I was already looking at it and wondering how it performed. I think I'm going to have to get one.
Nice Vid

PULSAR DIGISIGHT N550 most likely.
For a lot of hunting applications, digital is the way to go and I predict we will see more and more of it being used.
Yall are correct. It's a Pulsar N550.
I was hoping that the hog would come in under the feeder so I could get better video of the shot. There were some other hogs back in the brush that I could hear but the mic on the camera didn't catch it. Probably because it was sitting by my feet on the ground inside the blind. I took the shot there because the others hadn't come in and I'd rather take one out than take the chance of it wandering off and not getting another shot.
We'll be out a lot in the next few weeks so we should have several more hog hunting videos with it soon.
great vid

I had already walked back behind my feeder when it skips to the part where I've got the light looking for the hog. I didn't measure it off exactly but the hog was about 10 yards behind my feeder, it's 13 yards from my feeder to my tree stand and the blind I was in is about 10 yards behind the stand so the hog was 25-30 yards away or so.
I've got friends with a 1st gen scope, gen 2+ up to gen 3 stuff. This scope isn't as good at distance as gen 3 but closer up it works better and it's far superior to gen1 & any gen 2 scopes I've used. When compared the gen 3, up close the image is crisper and there's more definition some of which might be attributable to the black/white image vs. a green black image. That said, the scope works best with some light. In absolute darkness you need an external light source whether that be the on-board IR or an IR torch.
If you've got a decent moon you can see pretty much all of the way to the horizon. We were out one night and I could easily see two dove decoys sitting on a barbed wire fence about 150 yards away and I watched a deer out in a field well over 200 yards away. I could tell it was a buck but there wasn't enough definition to tell exactly how big his rack was but it was plenty good enough that I could have shot him had I wanted.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the scope and it is fully capable of doing everything that I need it to do.
tips hat thanks for info.. had some hogs tippen over corn feeder earlier, went down their about midnight with me 45 pistal, had just missed em... they did it three nighs in row, they moved out, hung old cable from tree to tree 20 yrd spand an put feeder on cable... ain't figured out how ta down load pic's or video, an got slow speed conection took hour just to down load your video, twas worth the wait...

Very cool video. Thanks alot.
I did a lot of research before I decided what type of scope we were going to use. I've even discussed them with the owner of Pulsar. We've now got 4 of these scopes.
