OK so I found these Magpul stocks from Mooney Firearms...

ACS-L

STR

Did I miss something? I was under the impression we would first hear about them directly from Magpul... Or am amnesic and completely overlook them?

I heard from Justin at the LaRue Range day about some new stocks... I assumed we would hear about it first from Magpul

The description provided to the USPTO for PARA CLIP is Connection clasps, made of metal and plastic, for rifle slings, leashes, backpacks, and other sporting goods.

Hmm, you could be right.

I'm calling Airsoft / Chinese knock-off's. Ohe the first webpage, the "MAGPUL" font doesn't match the font on the Magpul website and products, and the logo is not quite the same. Plus, no way Magpul would introduce those at a price that low...

I gladly stand corrected now that it is confirmed these are real!!! Looks like I know what I'm going to be ordering for my .300BLK build now!

I was thinking that the official magpul logo has a squared off top to the upside down "Y" but the more I look around, they seem to show it both ways. So...maybe I called fake in error, although the "M" is a bit odd still. They've used that style in some of the PMAG stuff, but doesn't seem to quite jive using it in "MAGPUL."

If these were fakes I don't think the knock-off company would have applied for patents for them and have showed up on that website I posted earlier.

A little bird at Larue day had the new MS3 sling, its pretty badass. There was also perchance mention of two stocks. Although I am kind of surprised at the light ACS and storageable CTR. Essentially they are the same thing or slight updates from pre-existing products. Magpul prides themselves on making things that shooters need more than they want (no AK Pmags as foriegn .mil mags are more than sufficient in function, supply, and low cost). Dont get me wrong, new stuff is always sexy, but I still think they need to revisit the fixed stock idea that was discussed in two other threads in this forum. Both for those in ban states and those that want something with a few bells & whistles and maybe shorter than a standard A1 or A2 model. Now that the cat is out of the bag with the stocks I dont feel as bad as mentioning them from the Larue day. The other things they mentioned I will still remain not at liberty to divulge out of respect for their wishes.

The ACS-L is pretty sweet and fixes what I didn't like with the ACS...i'll grab a couple I'm sure.
Otherwise I agree that continuing to ignore a basic rifle tube/buffer system ala MOE is a big fail.

We'll see what SHOT holds hopefully...will be nice to handle the ACS-L unless they are available before the show!

Here's Gear Scout's post on the two new stocks.

They both look like the same stock to me. Really comes down to, do you want a storage compartment or battery tube.

I'm definitely interested in seeing more pictures of the stocks though.

Looks like someone fucked up and let it out before Magpul's official release.

Definitely want to see the weight specs on these new stocks. I need a lighter stock to replace my EMod when I install my Troy rail. Gonna be even harder to choose a new stock with these coming out.

And I like the STR... it's an improved ACS (or SOPMOD) that isn't fugly, has a friction lock and battery storage.

The ACS-L looks like a ACS and a UBR had an anorexic baby.

I feel your pain!

I was planning to pick up an ACS either Today or Tomorrow, to replace a CTR. The only thing holding me back was the lack of a QD point on the ACS (unless you buy one seperately) and the size & weight. The ACS-L looks like it fixes both of those issues.

I have owned a CTR, and currently have a ACS that I have had for about two years. What I didn't like about the CTR was the lack of cheek weld. I think the ACS is pretty ugly, but is longer and has a more comfortable cheek weld. The STR I may have to try as I don't need the ACS storage.

Magpul announced on Facebook recently they were releasing new stocks, so its not a shock to anyone that Magpul has new stocks coming out. I wouldn't think posting things on Facebook would be much of a secret.

As far as me posting images, I've been briefed not to release any images until approved to do so by Magpul higher ups. Which is why you don't see me posting any teaser images anymore. There are lots of pictures of the MS3 and its components out as well, so what it looks like shouldn't be much of a shock either. However, until I hear something, I won't be posting any shots of it.

...and my only complaint has been the "meh" checkweld. It would seem that Magpul has listened to the consumer, as usual, by adapting and improving their design. I still remember having Rich talk me through a problem I had installing my first M93, at 8 o'clock at night.

Rich is a good guy. I was going to get a troy battle axe, but now I'll hold off until I get to play with an STR before I replace my CTR. I can deal with a cheekweld that doesn't wow me, the CTR was ok. The battle axe was flat awesome. Like it was made for me. Hopefully the str will be the same.

True, the fact that new stocks were coming out was not much of a secret... facebook post, bolos at the LT Range day, etc... pictures showing up on a random vendor site before an official release, or semi-official teasers is what I was referencing...

I believe it is just over 12 oz. but I will check for you tomorrow.

The stocks will be shipping out to dealers & distributors mid-month, black to start and other colors to follow.

And in addition to the stocks, there is one other product we just got in today.

Site says: "TBD"

From Facebook:

On the STR,

Magpul Industries Corp. The word is out! Two new stocks are coming later this month. Take a look at http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG470. The Magpul STR (Storage/Type Restricted) is a drop-in replacement butt stock for m4-type carbines. A storage-capable version of the CTR®, the STR has improved cheek weld and two water resistant battery tubes on a compact, reinforced polymer A-frame design. A shielded operation lever and supplemental friction locking system prevent accidental operation and minimize excessive stock movement for enhanced weapon stability and accuracy.* The STR incorporates two integral sling loops, a reversible push-button QD sling mount, and a replaceable 0.30" rubber butt-pad which provides positive shoulder purchase to prevent slippage even with body armor or modular gear.

On the ACS-L,

Magpul Industries Corp. The ACS-L - http://store.magpul.com/product/160/170 - Coming later this month, the Magpul ACS-L (Adaptable Carbine Stock - Light) is a drop-in replacement butt-stock for AR15/M16 carbines. A streamlined version of the ACS, the ACS-L utilizes the same center storage compartment and cheek weld but removes the battery tubes for a slimmer, lighter weight package. Available for mil-spec and commercial receiver extensions.

Love the sopmod, but the price was a deal breaker. I'm just not paying 200 bucks for something that in the end, doesn't matter. I liked the ACS too, but not as much. Don't know why since they're pretty close.

And I think that their sales, and the following that they command, would indicate so much. They are real brutes of the industry, and with real good reason. Their products rock, and they are some really good guys. Whats not to like? 9080

We typically try to give our Dealers/Distributors a heads-up on new products before any public announcement. However, a couple of our Dealers leaked the stocks early and we were forced to push up our mid-December unveiling...

Rest assured folks, we have a whole plethora of goodies coming over the next few months so stay tuned to our website for news:
