If I were to sand down the tabs on the upper portion of a PMAG
_________________________________^_______^
Those tabs the arrows are pointing at. If I were to sand those down, would the mag have issues seating properly in the mag well? I ask because putting two in a pouch meant for two, like this pouch that I have:
You have to fight em to get em in there like that as it is with the base plate, but pulling them out is like pull starting a lawn mower, mainly cause the front most magazine's outer facing tabs will get caught in the fabric, making a speedy and handy reload anything but. Thus the only way to effectively use that mouch with a PMAG 20LR is to put one mag in a pouch meant for two
I'd have bought ASC SR25 mags but I haven't seen any reviews on them and I just got 10 PMAG 20LRs as a christmas gift, so I wanna make em work.
Those tabs keep the mag from wobbling in the mag-well, don't sand them off.
I wouldn't sand them down... I would stagger the mags in the pouch, rather than trying to get them both all the way in... let one ride slightly higher than the other.
Tried that, to no avail

Yes
How about lining the inside of the pocket with thin plastic like a cut up milk jug? It will use minimal space and the tabs won't snag.

I doubt it would help.

You might be surprised.
How about pointing them in opposite directions so the tabs don't line up?
Or if you have the room, aligning them as one 'up' one 'down'?
Alternately you could cram them in there, stick a couple of paint stirring sticks down the middle (to spread the pouch) and then wet the entire assembly and allow it to air-dry. This should stretch the nylon pouch slightly and allow them to fit a little looser.
Just a few ideas.

Here's the pouch info:

That's why a lot of dudes went back to USGI mags overseas when P-mags started gaining popularity. Nothing more fun than doing a quick reload and having two mags come out.

That's why I only use black teflon USGI pattern 5.56 mags with ranger plates. I'm tempted to try out the ASC SR25 mags (cause I'm not shelling out for Larue mags at 80 bucks a pop,) I just haven't found any reviews yet.

That is why I only use shingle type mag pouches on my plate carrier.
They need to change to "5R" tabs. Put a steep taper on each side so the tabs don't snag.

What's an SR tab? A more flatter/streamlined surface mag would kick ass if they were to revise their design, but I don't see them doing that all too willingly.
Don't E-mags reduce or eliminate this issue? Maybe one Pmag + 1 emag?

There's no EMAG in 308, and they've got the flared floorplate also.

What's an SR tab?
"5R" like 5R rifling. Sloped on the sides instead of square.

Like this?
If they make that for the 20LR mags, problem solved. The reason that those tabs push into the mag pouch wall is cause (when staggered or seated level) the floor plate of the front mag pushing off the mag towards the back pushes it forward in the pouch to the point that the tab snags the nylon.
Where are you getting these new catalog scans from?
