Looking to put a barrel on a diet

The starting weight is 41 oz. If I had it ball dimpled (entire barrel), how much weight could I expect to shave? Same idea but all fluted? Thanks for any help.

Just a guess, but probably around 5 to 7 oz's. If you want to get light, then you would want to contour it vs dimpling or fluting (dimpling and fluting are pretty similar in weight loss). You would probably be around a pound lost, if contoured.
If you really want the look of dimpling, then i suggest you contour under the HG, and dimple fwd of the gas block.

Thank you sir, I do like your idea. I don't have the barrel in question yet, but it is stainless. Right now I'm just checking into options to see what I really want. Thanks again.
