16" .308 barrel with rifle gas?

Is it possible to cut a .308 barrel with a rifle length gas system to 16" and still have it run reliably? KAC does it, but I have no idea if they have to do other mods to their EMC. I have a Krieger barrel on the way, and want to build something similar to the KAC EMC. Thanks!

We don't have enough experience with the .308 platform to guarantee it. I would think if the Knights unit works, yours will work. May have to try different buffer weights, and such, to get high reliability. Or, maybe not. 
However, we do not know what kind of ammo makes the Knights unit work best (i have only seen a few pics of the Knights unit unsuppressed). So, i assume good, NATO spec, ammo will be required.
