 POF Customer Experience

So far I have loved my POF's and the service I received from Chris and the guys...

I wanted to post a thread that started with a customer issue and that was updated all the way through. This will give folks an idea of the type of excellent service to expect from POF if you pony up your $1100+ for one of their uppers. It will also show you the time it takes to resolve such an issue...

I have some minor issues that I didn't want to become big issues with my oldest upper (less than 2 years old), so I e-mailed POF. Chris promptly suggested that I ship the upper to POF and so I shipped it today (2/20/2009)...

Here are the pictures and e-mail I sent along:

I experienced the same issue you had with the hex nut towards the rear of the gas block that unscrewed itself. I noticed it about a month ago when I was cleaning it after my range session. I posted this in another thread here but no one knew what I was talking about. You have to remove the rail to actually see it. The op rod has also flared out like you mentioned. I did have to remove the rail to get to it as well. For now, I just degreased the whole area and put some blue Loctite. I have about 700 rounds max through it. I am also experiencing the same problem with wear/groove inside the upper receiver that was posted in another thread here. I have not shot it since.

Have you contacted POF?

My 9.25 did the same thing. I put red locktite on it and no problems after about 1K rounds.
POF either isn't degreasing the threads or they aren't putting thread lock on it.

Did your piston flare out and get sharp?

I don't think they are putting any thread lock...at least on mine they didn't. When I inspected the hex nut, the threads were very clean. When POF assembles there rifles, I personally think this should be a standard procedure. They should also put Loctite or something on the screws that hold the rail hanguard in place cause mine came loose.

Yes the op rod has a flare now but I haven't done anything to it. I shoot it suppressed only.
It still runs fine but I am trying to order replacement parts just in case.
I can't get anyone to call me back or email.

Well, I haven't heard anything... I hope they received the upper... As a customer, the first thing I would like to know is that they received it and I guess the second thing would be where it is in their priorities.

I sent this e-mail to POF:

>Hey Chris,

>I shipped the upper… Hope you got it… Can you confirm that you received it and the notes I sent?

I think everyone here is waiting to hear what they have to say when they receive it. Good luck.

Well, so far I'm impressed... Came home today and had a package on the step... Opened it up and what do you know, my upper was already back! Looks like they replaced the piston rod and gave me a new plug... The rail system was re-mounted with more substantial bolts... I haven't taken it to the range yet. I was just so surprised and delighted that it was already back. To those of you out there considering a POF, let me say that I'm a supporter and I would encourage you to move forward ASAP... You never know when Holder is going to make uppers scarce. I'm still a fan of POF and an owner of multiple uppers... Maybe soon a .308!

Upon further inspection, it looks like a new barrel nut too!

Man, after looking at photos of my rig before sending it, they've actually replaced the rail!
