Left Handed Rifle Poll
Should we make one?
Yes but it should be 100% mirror image.
Not like how Stag does it.

Agreed
No, I think it's a waste. The market is already small, and you will have to compete with Stag, who is already well known for a lefty AR.
I am lefthanded, and learned to shoot ARs as they are already made.
Unfuck the ACR and bring the price down $500, and you already have an ambi rifle ready to go

Yeah, what he said......

Yes. A TRUE left handed rifle.
I'm a lefty, and the only lefty rifles I purchase are bolt actions.
I would never purchase a left hand AR. Those of us that were in .mil trained on a standard AR/M16, and had no problems. I'm guessing most will not have to re-learn.

This
Better a true ambidextrous redesigned lower that would work with existing uppers. A left hand upper would be helpful though... even just the charging handle.

Agree, mostly. It doesn't have ambi ejection like the ARX160, but if sufficiently unfucked it would be able to be what it was supposed to be.
I like mine the way it is, in fact I like it so much I'm going to get a second one, that being said Coyote Brown Magpul AFG, windowed PMags MOE products would outstanding, as to un-F$%&ing the weapon system ............ someone please take the time to educate me as to what is F@#$ed up about the ACR?

off the top of my head...
Too expensive.
TOO heavy.
Safety/selector is crap. Poor quality/fit and should have been 45° travel for an ambi unit.
Fatuous barrel configuration in almost all respects. Laughable.
No parts available to use other barrels.
Undesirable factory configurations (this appears to be changing).
Accessories unavailable early on.
Cheap sights unbefitting such an expensive rifle.
Did I mention TOO HEAVY?
and too expensive?
In short, the buying public waited 3 years for the product to be "developed" and got something that appears less developed/refined than when the concept prototypes were displayed, and at a significantly higher price than what was anticipated or that other competitive products are priced.

Question: Do you own an ACR? If so how many rounds do you have through it?
As to the price ALL I will say at this stage is:
"Patience Grasshopper Patience"
Weight: Yes it is heavier that I would like, but that being said Bushmaster will be coming out with barrel options this coming year.
Safety/selector: I don't have a problem with mine, and don't see what the fuss is all about.
Parts: again 2011 will fix this, I'm guessing we will be half way through the Millennium Kingdom before FN gets parts out, yes I own a SCAR (16S).
Accessories: Bushmaster has a number of parts/accessories available on there site with more to come, again see the above line on FN.
Sights: They are not CHEEP they are INEXPENSIVE and work great (or they do on my rifle).
"In short, the buying public waited 3 years for the product to be "developed" and got something that appears less developed/refined than when the concept prototypes were displayed" dude WT......? Magpul's Masada was a "prototype" the polymer parts were not as dense as production parts therefore weighed less, the barrel was a thin profile, weighed less. The gas block had not been developed at that stage, this again added weight. Magpul has explained their position as to the pricing of the weapon system (over and over again) so there's no need for me to go over this again. Magpul makes ALL the polymer parts for the ACR to date, the Masada had these same parts in a per-production format.
Thanks for chiming in Rev,
I modded my selector on the
right side, but other than that, different barrels and really wanting a longer handguard ala the prototypes:
All in all I think for a new system things have moved pretty quickly, look at the m16/ar15 and how long it took it to get where its at.
Well we have derailed the thread somewhat, rather than continue the ACR hijack (which I'd be happy to repeat things I've posted before in another thread) I will say that I voted "yes", with the caveat that what is really needed (IMO) is an ACR/SCAR like Ambidextrous AR style lower. A redesigned upper is certainly a possibility but seems like it might not be worth the trouble if it's really the same as what Stag already offers.
I'm a lefty. Don't waste the money. Put the money and the effort into the ACR. I own two of them. It is the best thing you have going. Full speed ahead with the winner you already have. Continue with parts/lowers/barrel production. It would crush the SCAR market. (You already offer more spare parts than FN). Sink the knife in deeper.

How could you do that without magazines that are also mirrored?
LOL.. its amazing how fast some people can turn any thread in this forum into a ACR bash fest...

+1 for the parts in red
Bushmaster,
Pertaining to your question:
While I'm not left handed I have spent some time shooting my ACR left handed without issue, As it is the weapon system truly ambi-dexterous and giving the operator the option of having spent brass ejection out the other side of the receiver seams like a lot of trouble and expense for something one really doesn't need. I'm sure they would sell but in what numbers is the question, personally I would rather see you folks come out with parts and accessories, such as:
The "alternative" lower and handguard (The Remington ones)
The adaptor you have that allows the end used to put a buffer tube and AR stock on the ACR.
Parts kits.
Barrels.
Caliber Kits.
Would love to see other Magpul parts: Long and short hand-guards, lowers, CB Windowed Pmags, 20 CB Pmags, CB AFG/AFG2 & MOE parts.
I'm a lefty and own a lefty Savage bolt and an M2 Benelli lefty. That being said, I only bought them because I got good deals on them.
I wouldn't specifically look for a lefty AR. I have adapted and I think I can run it better than a righty. The only thing I do to my AR's is add an ambi safety.

I think Bushmaster could make that happen.
I am left handed, but learned to shoot the platform with an m16 like most US Veterans. I would not want to re-learn it in a mirror image. I waited until the ACR came out and bought that, now I have the best of all worlds.
I've been left handed my whole life

and I have simply learned to adapt to a right handed world. I do have two LH bolt rifles but I can run my ARs just fine. I just picked up a Bushy LR 308 ORC and just like my other ARs the only thing I wish it hand was an ambi safety. The ambi should be an option or the rifles should come with a certificate for an ambi safety selector or something like that. Just my $.02
