What caused this? Marks on my barrel extension.
Is this a major problem or can it be lived with?
I am still pretty new to the black rifle world so this is something I'm not too familiar with.
It's a new build, PSA 16'' Hammer Forged Midlength Light Weight upper. I have only ran about 200 rounds through it. Flawless on LC and PMC. It only jammed when I tried a few underpowered reloads which led to short stoking.
I posted in troubleshooting but was directed here. Apparently this is out of the ordinary.
Is it something I should be overly concerned with?
Should I have it fixed?
CAN it be fixed w/o a completely new barrel?
The rifle runs well. I only noticed these marks when I broke it down to clean it.
PSA is this something you might have experience with?
Was it a heat treating issue?
That's lug peening.
May I see pictures of your bolt face?
I'm fairly sure it will keep running fine without issues.
Don't use under-powered Tula reloads ammo.
I would be interested in seeing the specs on the reloads as the PMC and LC were cycling fine. The reloads were of an unknown recipe and were causing malfunctions.
To us it does not matter if it was caused by the reloads or another issue. It has our logo on it and it needs to be operating properly.
E-mail Joe Weir at joe.weir@palmettostatearmory.com and we will take it back and make it like new again or give you a new one, whichever is necessary.

And just another reason why I love PSA. Some Firearm Manufacturers would void your warrenty if you shoot reloads through the gun. That is awesome coverage by PSA.
Keep us posted on the followup service by PSA.
Nice work standing behind the product PSA keep up the good work!

And that is why they will continue to get my business.
Service like that could end up earning my business on a third PSA upper.... Nice work guys.
Update:
PSA Sent me a shipping label, took return of my upper. They replaced the problem parts.
In about a weeks time I have my rifle back together.
Service doesn't get much better than that.
Haven't fired it yet but I'll keep this thread updated if any more problems arise.
Thanks again PSA!

Ok, I see it now. I actually looked at the ramp alignment initially but it looked fine. When I looked closer I can the the misalignment. Slight but enough I guess.
My guess is something had to have been misaligned in the upper. I don't see any other way it could have happened, but again, I'm no expert.
Either way it looks to be fixed now.
I think they actually replaced the entire upper, but I'm not certain. It just looks like this one I have now has a sightly different shade of finish on it than the other one.
Main point to take from all of this is PSA stands behind their product.
And that goes a long way with me.
