Question about DS finish on lower/upper

I purchased a DS stripped lower last week and noticed the finish on it is noticeably "shinier" than what I've seen on a couple of other DS lowers that a friend has, as well as my own existing Bushmaster. I'm assuming this is a new finish, with Teflon? If so, can anyone tell me how the DS uppers/barrel assemblies compare in overall finish? I'm going to build this into a standard 20" flat-top and would like it to match as close as possible.

Thanks!

Yes, our DSC lowers are teflon coated. If and when you place your order for a 20" upper tell us that you want a teflon upper so that the whole gun matches. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

Thanks

Jesse/Rhonda,

I've never requested teflon finish on the parts kits but they have always matched the DS lowers. Is this something new and do I need to call Ms. Judy to make sure my last orders are right?

To make sure is your name Stephen Sowell from Dungan Engineering. I will make the changes on your order if you like. I have talked with Teresa (the owner) and she said that we have used teflon coating for about 5 years on our lowers. So the coating is not a new thing.

As long as it isn't a new finish, I think we are good.

Thanks,

I just picked up my second DS lower and it is definately shinier than the one on my current build. I bought the first one about a year and a half ago and then ordered my kit from JT and they matched perfectly. Great gun by the way.

The new one is also a lot rougher than the original. There is some flashing (not sure if correct term) on the top of the trugger guard area. The rollmark and printing is also different size. The first one I got was perfect. No marks anywhere and very smooth.

I was a bit dissapointed with the new one but I'm sure it will work just fine.

I just picked up a new lower today and I also noticed it is quite a bit shinier than the other
3 that I have. No big deal really, but it seemed to me the whole rifle went together a bit "tighter"
and there is absoutely no upper to lower wiggle at all.

Magpul Pmags do not drop free, but I am confident that a bit of wear will take care of this minor
issue. Is this finish thicker than the older finish ?

Thanks,

Scott

Sorry to take so long to get back with you. The difference in texture and gloss is due to a different coater. The original coater is overloaded and has been running 4-6 months to get new shipments through the process, so starting in November/December we started using the new coater in conjunction with our original coater. On some of the batches, the teflon has been a bit thicker than other batches, but nothing to really affect anything.
