Taking the plunge on a Noveske - opinions?

Folks,

As a graduation present for some very tough, very lengthy military schooling, I've decided to take the plunge on a Noveske Recce FSR. 16" midlength, chrome lined.

Anybody with experience with Noveske? What are your opinions?

Currently I plan to buy one factory direct, but does anyone know where I might acquire one retail?

Thanks guys.

Can't go wrong with a Noveske...

Check out DSG Arms or Rainier Arms for complete Noveske rifles...Not sure if they have the model you're looking for but they both carry them.

On of the best out there, worth every penny IMO. Very accurate. Great fit and finish. Great to deal with if you have an issue. I have three in the safe. As you say you are .mil check with them IIRC they have a discount for you. Rainier is a good source for Noveske as well.
You have chosen wisely.

I own two, a 16" Afghan and a 10" .300 AAC Blackout Rogue Hunter. Awesomely accurate, beautiful guns. Noveske is top of the line, as far as I am concerned. Get a great rifle and never look back. Their customer service folks are also top shelf.

One of the best decisions you'll ever make, gun-wise. It's what I run.

Rainier Arms is their closest, big retailer that's online.

But I wouldn't hesitate to call Noveske direct and get them going on something for you.

Great people and company.

Congrats on completeing the schooling!

I don't own a Noveske, but I don't think I have ever read anything I didn't like about them.

It's one of those AR's I dream of owning one day. (yes, I have dreams about AR's, sad I know)

I have 5 Noveske barreled uppers and 4 Noveske Gen 2 lowers. I love every single one of them. Here's a pic of a 16.1" Noveske N4 Recon with DD RIS 2 on a KAC SR15E3 lower.

Don't think about it any further. Just buy it.

I've heard great things about Ranier Arms, but have not purchased from them. I can recommend Neil at Gun Gallery Jax highly. Got my Sopmod clone there - great price, rifle is perfect and they shipped it out to my FFL immediately. They have a couple of postings on Noveske exclusives on the EE.

M Noveskes: left-handed Noveske/Bedrock and a Sopmod Block II style (I swapped out the black A2 grip for an FDE MOE)

I own or have owned up to 13 different Noveske's of various lengths and calibers. They are at the very top of my list right next to KAC..I regret selling a few of my uppers but, only sold them to fund other rfirearms..I bought my very first Noveske back in early 2007 and I've never had a single problem with any of the factory built uppers/rifles to date.

I use Noveske barrels and a few other items, but wouldn't buy a complete rifle. Noveske just doesn't offer the other parts that I want. I would be selling off too much of it for buying complete to make sense. That being said, no company offers a complete AR that I would buy. Most people are easy enough to satisfy that they would be thrilled with Noveske's complete offerings as they come out of the box. They are nice rifles.

I live in Jax too and,IMO, I think that Gun Gallery is garbage. A bunch of upity know-it-alls that will turn their nose up to you if you have use a weapon that is different that is in their shop. Their little range is shit too.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but, I trust the knowledge of their staff to anyone else in the area and you're not the only one that feels that way from what I've heard around town. Now let's not and try to derail the OP's thread any further since this has no relevance to the OP's subject.

ETA: FWIW, I know why they choose not to sell certain brands like Taurus, DPMS, Vulcan, Hesse, and others. Gun Gallery offers a life time warranty for all the firearms they sell regardless of what the manufacturers warranty is and also certain manufacturers require a minimum purchase or that you carry the entire line of their offerings if you want to be a reseller of their product. Sorry you had a bad experience though cause they were pretty helpful from day one with me.

I sort of agree. The thing that makes Noveske great are their barrels. I've put together a couple with their stainless barrels, none better. I selected other components like rails, BCGs, lowers and put them together.

I'm in with the rest of the fellas. I have 3 Noveske barreled uppers and I love them! Personally I chose not to buy a complete rifle and build my own. I spent just as much piecing it together with some awesome parts though (probably more)!

My first 5.56 was/is a Noveske 16" Recce w/vis and switchblock, love it.
My 2nd I hope will be the basic carbine for a nice light KISS rifle.

Cant go wrong with them, there are a few makers that are top notch and worth the extra $$.

Well done. Factory order I assume, but don't sweat the wait. It'll be worth it.

And congrats on your graduation!

Thanks dude. Definitely a factory order, gotta love me that .mil discount. That and this something of a Grail Rifle to me, so I figured why not buy direct.

As for what I plan to do with it, it's intent is to be an all-around all-purpose AR. Short, tongue-in-cheek version is that out of all my long arms, when the zombies are coming and I have to un-ass the AO, and can only carry one, this is the one I'd take.

Long version is that I'll be using it for defensive purposes as well as my platform for some light practical/tactical competition, increasing as my skill set with long arms increases. I had originally spec'd out a custom build that I was going to personally assemble, then was guided to this - which is, with minor differences, exactly what I had spec'd out for the custom build. Probably better. It also comes with a better barrel and a warranty-backed Done Right guarantee, something that my own handiwork doesn't have.

Basically it's going to be the centerpiece of my long arms collection. I think I picked a good'un.

General all-around go-to gun for carbine work. Essentially defensive and practical/tactical competition as I improve my skill set with long arms. I'm no longer in the position where I can afford the time or money to collect multiple weapons to fulfill every possible niche, and with the amount that I travel I'm shooting for a few that serve the most functions. I originally set up a custom build that met all my criteria (lightweight, free float rails, midlength, 1:7, chrome, yadda yadda) and then tripped over this. After the .mil discount it's within pennies of that planned custom build I was going to do myself, minus the "did I do it right" factor. That DIDIR bit sold me on the Noveske...I may still build that custom rig eventually, but I'd rather know that the centerpiece of my rifle collection is, in fact, good-to-go.

Love mine. I'm down to only a Noveske (on right) and a Daniel Defense right now. They are both great shooters but the Noveske is still my favorite. Never a hiccup or burp with all types of ammo.

My AR progression has been Bushmaster to Spikes to LMT to nothing tops my Noveske - my KAC comes close. Love me a Noveske and the new Gen 2 forged lowers are awesome. Biggest beef with Noveske are the sub par triggers they come with. So my last was a Project Ares that came set up just right!

No worse a trigger than my 6920 or any M16 I ran in the USMC. Plus, you can upgrade to a Geissele from the factory if so you desire. Or just swap'em out once you get the gun. Not exactly difficult with Geissele's. That's the path I've taken with my Noveske's.

OP, congrats. You gonna love that gun and the CS that comes with it (when you go back to buy more stuff from them ). Sheri is the best.

Huh whaaaa....??????

And yeah, I'm already thinking ahead to a Geissele trigger. That's on the back burner tho, for now it's paying off this little beauty, then mags, ammo, mags, ammo ammo ammo, more mags, and maybe an HK P30L thrown in. Did I mention mags?

IIRC a freind was quoted $155 to upgrade to the Geissele SSA on a new build from Noveske.

Thats a tad better than $200+!

OP...Congratulations for finishing a tough task. You deserve a hell of a gift. I think You found it.

The N4 barrel has almost the same accuracy But much more durable!
