I was looking at AR assy/disassy wrenches and see 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generations listed. I hve a new Colt LE6920, will any of these wrenches work or do I need the latest version? Thanks.

I've never heard of these "generations" of wrenches.
You might be looking at Chinese crap on Ebay.

The best, inexpensive barrel nut wrench is the genuine USGI
Bushmaster has it for $12 and they also have barrel blocks for $16
Both are shown at work in the sketch below taken from the Army TM

That's a nice wrench for the money but it looks like it's meant for the Troy proprietary barrel nut.
Also, with a closed wrench like that you can't leave an FSB in place.

Spikes makes some nice AR tools, including a great barrel wrench.

it works on standard barrel nuts as well, but you are correct about the FSB getting in the way. I have 3 of these troy wrenches and i want them out of my toolbox. haha.

I made a armorers tool with a waterjet and CNC machine out of 316SS plate. I will follow up with pic later.

Interesting, do you not need an action block to pull a barrel off?

Barrel blocks are all you need unless you're working on a mono upper.

I use this Tapco model. Its heavy duty and does the job quite well.

Spike's or PRI are the best IMO. The only thing is that they are pricey unless you do a lot of work on AR's.

A mono upper is one that the reciever and free float tube are one piece like the Colt 6940.
