purpose of colt sear block
excuse the ignorance i am new to the sport...what is the purpose of the colt sear block?what options does the removal allow? i had adco remove the block on a recomendation, they appeared to do a great job. i have another preban colt with the sear block present, are upper recievers interchangeable with the lower recievers??
thankyou

To stop drop in trigger groups that allowed full auto and burst. If I recall correctly.

Which is kind of pointless. Needs some sort of auto sear to become fully functional, such as an RDIAS or LIghtning Link.
The only way to combat that is to have it milled off. But that's only nessisary if you have or can afford one.
Colt"s over reaction to the gun laws of the time.
thankyou, can i have semi-trig
can i have semi auto trigger groups such as giessle placed in them with the sear block present?
thanks joe

Nope...not even one of those. It's got to be a bolt action trigger
[/sarcasm]
I'm not sure if this was an " overreaction " or merely a company's way of insuring that the sale of their products would not be a problem for the end user of their products (civilian market)
You have to take into consideration the political bias at the time, quite frankly, I can't see the expense of "converting" such a lower vs. purchasing any number of "post- ban" lowers available at a lower cost. I'm not a Colt devote' and don't own any Colt AR's but would consider a Colt lower w/ a sear block a collectors item, a testament to an American company's efforts to insure the 2nd amendment rights of citizens of this country.

You realize they are pre ban ( Clinton Era Ban)?
Don't the new M4 marked 6920s have an un-milled portion in the fire control group area where an auto sear would go?
I thought I saw one like that recently.
