I purchased a Armalite M15, 20" flat top. It was used, but near NIB. The only way I could tell it had been fired was the shell deflector had been marked. I topped it with a Nikon .223 0-4x scope and integrated base. Any issues I should be aware of with this rifle? Likes/dislikes on ammo? The scope is supposedly setup for 55grn polymer tipped bullets. I assume it will work with other weights also. I turned in my commie gun and ammo for this and walked out to the good $ wise.

I was waiting on parts to roll my own, but I kept hearing next month, they tell us next month. Somewhat disappointed that a major supplier can not produce what they catalog in a timely manner. My FFL said all the companies are backed up.

I also looked at a S&W higher dollar model. Uhm, other than the quad rail with pop up sights, I didn't thinkit was any better than my milspec DelTon. The Armalite's trigger was much better than the S&W's. It was actually the trigger that sold me on the rifle.

Congrats, ArmaLite makes good guns. Very accurate barrels, good triggers, and a lifetime Warrenty to boot. What's not to like.

+1

The ArmaLite two stage triggers can be tuned to match the high dollar models. Two good articles in the ArmaLite knowledge base on there web site.
I have one ArmaLite and it's been a 100% reliable rifle. I'm sold on the ArmaLite two stage LPK's for all my builds, great trigger and LPK parts for $120, can't beat that price.

Congrats. My M15 (7.62x39 in my case) has ran like a raped ape from day one. You did well.

This should look like your rifle with a different scope on it. That's the Armalite free float hand guard, with MOE grip and trigger guard. My very first AR, and it's fun. I'm still trying to find the "perfect" load for it, and it continues to play with me. Some attempts go into less than 1/4 MOA for 4 out of 10 shots @ 200 yards. This tells me that the rifle really wants to shoot, but the trigger appears to be the culprit now. Certainly worth my efforts!
Reloading stuff is hard to get now, because everyone's hoarding with a bad feeling about the coming election. One recipe that works very well for me uses the Hornady bulk 55 gr. PSP (with cannelure) from Midway. This over 25.5 gr. of Varget, with a std. Win primer. The load I've been messing with lately is the Hornady 60 gr. PSP over 26.1 gr. of Varget. On a good day, this load goes just under 1 MOA for 10 rounds @ 200 yards.
While I agree that Armalite is one of the best, this company acquired the trademark and began building under the name in 1996. That's still a long time.
Reloading voids the warranty, but that's OK. Once you determine that your rifle is up to Armalite spec, you don't need no stinkin' warranty.
Get a spare bolt, and keep it in the compartment in the stock, provided for that purpose.
Let the fanboys blather all they want. Armalite is Tier One.
P.S.- That's my Gitzo tripod and Manfrotto ballhead supporting the rifle in due dignity.

Thanks for all the positive comments. I was pretty sure I had done good with the Armalite name. Yesterday would have been a great range day, but not on Mommy's Day. Next nice day I'll take her oout for a intial run. Looking forward to it.

My DelTon will eat the cheap Russian ammo all day long. Will the Armalite?

I can't speak for every rifle, but mine has been 100% with Russian steel case. I've used lots of Monarch, and last time I had it out, I tried Tula for the first time. It was like it couldn't get enough of it.

I was able to get out to the range this afternoon for a little shooting. I had some initial problems with feeding, but once it ruined 2 rounds by not feeding them and bullet shove, everything setttled down. I had no more issues. I used three different types of mags with no problems once she settled in. Took me all of 5 shots to zero it. That was under less than ideal conditions as someone had changed the combo to get into the range and I had to hike in and just bring what I could carry in my pockets. I used the POC bench there. PITA... Someones not going to be happy with the CAS club that used the place over the weekend.
