What should I do with this lightweight KISS carbine?
Im thinking
Larue 12 inch rail over a low profile gas block
Larue Troy sights
CTR stock and magpul ladder covers
MIAD grip
Reccomend me a good 2 point sling please
Eotech (probably just a 512)
maybe a Larue FUG or just a handstop
What would you do?
Definitely put some optics on it. An aimpoint maybe. How KISS do you want to keep it?
Edit: didnt see below the pick. An Eotech would be the best thing to start with. Instead of the usual Miad, maybe try one of BCM's gunfighter grip. Maybe also think of getting an extended latch for the charging handle.

Maybe not kiss at all. But im kinda trying to keep it lightweight.
Slap an Eotech on it, and shoot it!
Shoot it
Aimpoint t1 and Troy vtac 13" rail
Optic of your choice, a sling, and a light and call it a day.

I run a couple of these and I've been pretty happy with them:

If you're intent on tricking out your gun, I'd say get an optic first and foremost. Nothing wrong with irons though. If you want to keep it light weight an Eotech might not be the best option, but that's your call. Micro aimpoints are some of the lightest out there.
What would you be mounting on the Larue rail? Rails generally add weight, not remove it. The stock handguards are some of the lightest options. If you then add a light and foregrip to that quad rail, any concept of "light weight" is out the window.

Gotcha. In case you decide you want to free float without the heavy full rail system, the vtacs are super light. I just built one and it's amazing.
I would honestly not do anything you mentioned. Or anything at all, really. Except a sling.
sounds like my setup except i run a emod and a afg2 instead larue fug. i want too try the fug but there pretty pricey
Guys im not going after "super lightweight" I just meant Im not going to be hanging all kinds of stuff off this thing. I guess what i should have said "streamlined". I dont want it to weigh a tone but im not worried about a little weight either.
Oh and I will definitely camo it up too.
Optic, and shoot the piss out of it.
I personally would get a Troy Alpha or Samson Evolution 11- 12", chop the front sight into a low profile, front BUIS, Micro Aimpoint for optic.
keep it as it is and shoot it.
troy rear flip, and a stock upgrade...IE.emod. other than that leave it alone,IMO.
once you get into adding things, hard not to stop. forearm being the best upgrade accuracy wise.
I would get a larue qd spr mount and scope set up,if I went the optic route and it was my only rifle. theres alot more to be gained with a magnified scope for the few times you have a need for an optic, sans punching paper at a distance or hunting.
or get both a eotech qd eotech xps. the you got the best of both worlds.
now its right back to the same old problem.....where to stop!

And yet, you're thinking about putting a 12" rail on it. That's four feet of picatinny rail.
Leave it as it is, except consider an optic and VTAC sling, though to get the usefulness out of a good sling, you'll want to consider a way to mount/index the sling on the side, rather than the bottom of the stock and FSB.
The Matech rear sight is fine; they're good sights. Replacing it with a $100+ rear sight is wasted $, IMO, especially if you'll be getting an optic.
Get a lightly used ACOG for it. Fin.
Aimpoint PRO
VTAC Padded with side sling swivel mount
IWC 1913 ejection port side Light mount
Streamlight TLR-1 with pressure switch
IDF Elastic bands to hold pressure switch

Replace the Matech with a Magpul. Put a T1 on for an optic. Leave the rest alone. Buy Mags and Ammo. You bought it light because you wanted light. What you suggest is going to add a pound or more. Add a sling of your choice.
If you want light then keep it as it is and add a Aimpoint T1.
I would agree on a VTAC padded sling, very comfortable with lots of adjustment. As far a streamlined optics I would go with an Aimpoint micro. If you need a weapon light streamlight offers a polymer light that is light and ruged.

also add a light and sling.
Impact weapon components has some decent options for light mounts that allow the use of standard handguards.
As far as rail systems go centurion c4 is gtg. I have been looking at getting one in a 12 inch for my midlength, and yes they are about $300, but if you look at Daniel Defense, or LaRue Tactical you will pay about the same. The big difference is that DD and LaRue need special barrel nuts or devices to mount their rails, centurion doesn't. All you do is bolt the c4 rail onto your barrel nut. It's something to think about.
Shoot it!

Shoot the hell out of it. Get a sling (VTAC is nice, the mkII padded one is nicer) and shoot it some more. I was in your shoes, wanting to chop the FSB and put on a long rail but all I wanna do now is throw an EOtech on it and call it good.
A rail is what, $300, a pair of Troy BUIS another $200. Tack on yet another $100+ for a new buttstock. That's $600, enough to pay for an optic or 2 cases of ammo. For arguments sake, let's say you're counting on the optic before rail. That means the money for the rail, etc. gets you 2,000rds for free.
Just slap a light on it and a two point sling...,the more thing that you have on it the more that will go wrong......MURPHYS LAW
