About to send out a BCG to WMD Guns for coating. Just thought I would see if anyone has alot of use on there coated BCGs or Fail Zero parts that would like to share their experience. I have heard that the finish will change slightly when it heats up from firing. How much truth is there to that? Do they remain easy to clean even after thousands of rounds? Mine will see high volume.
I've had WMD do several of my BCG's and hammers. No long term data yet but one thing to note is that the finish on the ones they refinish is not nearly as slick as on the complete ones you buy from them or Fail Zero. When they refinish one they need to remove the old finish first, which appears to be by media blasting. This leaves a matte base for the plating. On their complete units they can specify a polished on the "in the white" carriers and such. This leaves a finished product with that great smooth finish.
The matte refinished parts seem to function fine but don't wipe down nearly as easily as the polished parts. I've noticed the hammers seem to darken with use and some look almost black now. No biggie, just an observation.
I run my guns wet anyway, but if I were going to try to minimize lube I would lean towards their complete units with the high polish. They seem a lot slicker.

When I talked to the guys at WMD I asked who did the NiB and it wasn't FailZero, I think everybody assumes because they are ex employees of FailZero/UCT Coating that they use them for NiB but according to WMD they use another company. I can't comment on other NiB's as I've never used other companies NiB coating; however, I have over a year on my FailZero EXO Carrier with about 7,000 rounds suppressed and auto with no issues.
