I was cleaning out my shop yesterday and found a bag of 7.62 rounds. (around 800) What do I need to build a upper to shoot these rounds? Also, do I need to do a lower? I'm new to this building stuff. I have a 5.56 Nato now.
Any 7.62 upper will work on a standard lower, mine runs better with a heavier buffer but worked fine with a standard carbine. If your ammo is stell case or hard recessed primer make sure your upper is set up to run that. ASC mags work fine for me.

Uhm it seems you might not be talking about the same thing.
OP, if you actually have .308 ammo, you will need a .308 upper and a .308 lower, and there are 2 types, DPMS style and Armalite style, and they are not compatible. If you have .300 AAC ammo, then disreguard..
It's 7.62 ammo but not sure if it's 51mm or 39mm. My step dad gave them to me after he sold his SKS.
Barrel, bolt, and mags are the only things unique to the x39 ARs, everything else is standard 5.56 stuff.
