Need help building a budget ar pistol
What's my best route? Looking for a cheap toy that goes bang!
Psa lower- 75 after fees
Psa lower build part kit-110
Jse upper -400
Would need sights and want an a2 handle with a scope mount. Can I add one of these two a jse 7.5 upper? What would approx cost be? Any other ideas for cheap?
To keep it as cheap as possible, get a JSE upper with the normal front sight, buy a used carry handle off the equipment exchange. From there you can get a cheap carry handle mount and cheap scope.
Edit: carry handle $40
Carry handle mount (about) $15 from midway
Cheap scope, price depends
what do you think about this upper? http://www.jsesurplus.com/bd71x9moly556gasblockupperwithdpmsfloattube-2.aspx
also will a psa lower be ok to use on a ar pistiol since its marked multi and not pistiol?
I would use
THIS lower if price is what you are searching for.
Same lower manufacturer as palmetto, although I can't comment on the internals. But I've ordered other parts from them and they are GTG.
The JSE upper should run great as well, mine does. I ended up with magpul sights on mine off the EE for like $50.
looked at that and it comes out to about the same as ordering a psa lower/lower parts build. same buffers. only thing bad about that lower is that its stamped "surplus ammo.com" kinda chessey. but its already built!
would this buffer tube work ok with a jse surplus 7.5 upper? http://www.phase5tactical.com/products/phase-5-ar15-pistol-buffer-tube-complete-assembly
want something shorter than the rra buffer tube that comes with the psa build kits.

I havent read anything bad about the JSE uppers yet, so it should be fine. As for the buffer tube, it should work, and even if it didnt you could probably switch out the buffer to a different weight (it would most likely need something heavier) to get it to work.
Why get a carry handle/scope mount and scope? Just get a red dot. Its a pistol, with a red dot you'll hit what you want at 100 yds. Looking through a 9x might make you puke

. Or a nice 3x like PA's. They have *cough, cough* Blem red dots right now for $59. The 3x is still $180, bu-bye-budget.
I have one of the JSE uppers but got it on sale for $360. Runs fine with a #60 o-ring in it.
[edit] You'll also want a sling end plate and single point sling. Something like this:
http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XIKHSLAP&name=SLAP+Ambidextrous+Sling+Loop+End+Plate&groupid=134
And this:

Thanks guys here's my build order
Psa lower- 50.00
Jse upper 7.5" - 380.00
A2carry handle- 30.00
Sling-15.00
Novenske pig-125.00
Lower parts kit-45-55
Phase5 buffer- 40.00
Total-roughly 700.00 with pig or 575.00 without pig. Hard decision can always add it later if I don't order now
Awww, I know some like the pig. I don't. Got this instead:

Sorry I can't find a close up of the pistol but you can see it:
Crappy pic, I know
Nice collection ! Sent you an email thru site btw. Which parts kit? Psa 45.oo Delton 45.oo Dpms. 50.oo
Also should I upgrade the bolt/carrier on the upper to a rra or Dpms chrome for an extra 35.00
What's the scope on the second rifle and fourth rifle
OOOOhhhh, thats an old picture. I put them an a safe and they just multiply.

. I have both DPMS and Del-ton LPK. They are nice but I tell ya I HAVE to do a trigger job on them. It feels like dragging a log down a long gravel road. I say that because I also have a RRA 2 stage. That is beautiful. I also just bought a PSA LPK because people say they are much better. Have yet to try that out. I'm going to do some trigger work, as tacked in the build it yourself forum. It should clean up pretty much anything.
[edit] Chrome. I also have a RRA chrome BCG. I like it, it cleans easily. It's not in my pistol though, I think it is in the 14.5". I guess it all depends how much you like to clean your weapon. I came from the USMC school of naming your rifle and cleaning the shit out of it. After we go shooting we sit around and drink and clean the heck out of our weapons. With chrome parts you clean less and drink more

So lpk doesn't matter then. Anyone will work. What do you guys think of spending an extra 35.00 on a rra or Dpms chrome bolt and carrier. Should I upgrade or stay stock?
Es- what are those scopes

Old picture
Nikon M-223 2-8 and 3-12 both BDC. On 20" and 14.5"
Truglo on the pistol, replaced by a PA multi recital dot. I'm not even sure where that TruGlo is now.
Tasco on the .22, lower right. $25 wallyworld. I had this on the AR pistol first. I know, but I spent so much I couldn't even afford PTS sights off ebay at the time

And it looks so silly stupid on the .22
Top Is an Osprey on my 7.62 upper. It's like a ?-40x
should i upgrade for an extra 35.00 to a dpms chrome bolt and carrier?
I would, but I'm lazy and chrome as well as Nickle boron makes for a hell of an easy clean up.
My 7.5" seems to run a touch dirtier than my 14.5's.
ok pulled the trigger:
1-del ton inc. 7" a2 upper with yhm free float quad rail, dpms chrome bolt/carrier, and a bcm gunfighter large charging handle
2-psa lowers (one for future build)
1- ace buffer tube system
2- Psa lower parts kit ( one for other lower)
Still debating on the novenske pig

Would you mind posting what prices you found these at?
7" del ton upper with the extras- 482 shipped
Psa lowers -115 shipped
Ace buffer system- 60.00 shipped
Psa lower parts kits- 104 shipped
7" pistol build roughly -650.00. Could have went without bcm charging handle and chrome bolt n carrier for under 600.00
110.00 for a lower rtg for future build
Can get a new pig for 100 from local shop
The vortex flash hider is supposedly really good with flash suppression (not to mention its like half the price of a pig), you may want to try that out first before going with the pig. Theres probably a few for sale on the equipment exchange (which would make them even cheaper, less of a risk if you decide you dont want it)
i have read that the smith vortex is nice for reducing flame but i kinda like the flame throwing. thats why im debating on the pig.
got a call from the upper builder. out of dpms chromes, so getting the upgraded rra chrome for free. must be my lucky day! lol
OP deviated from his pure intent to build a cheap shooter. I wouldn't even put a muzzle device on there if it's flames you want. Why spend real money on a piece of steel that doesn't affect (to any meaningful degree) the performance of the firearm?
Looks kool

think I pieced together a decent shooter(hopefully) for cheap.
the pig does do something, it send the noise downrange and eliminates side blast

Remember the pig is 7.2 oz and 3.28 in length. This adds quite a bit to the front of the pistol, with only a 7" barrel to start with. The Levang is 5.2 ounces. The Levang adds 1.25" less to OAL (1.5" vs 2.75" for the KX3) and is smaller in diameter (.971" vs 1.35"). The length of the Levang itself is 2.125" and the KX3 is 3.28". They both do the same thing so I prefer the lighter, shorter (and cheaper) Levang. Only my preference. YMMV
