I have decided to abandon 7.62x39 due to reliability and mag issues. So how now to top my pistol lower

Option 1: 7 inch 9mm upper from JSE with YHM rail

Option 2: 10.5 inch 5.56 upper from palmetto state

I have ammo already in both calibers as well as optics. Both are aprox. $470. On the 9mm i will need a magblock and mags but will spend that on rails and front sight for the 10.5 so thats about a wash.

Which would you buy and why?

I'm in the same boat right now - I think I'm going to start with the 9 and then maybe get the 5.56 later. Cheaper to shoot and I might get a can for it later.

That is the direction I am leaning aswell. I am hoping someone will stumble by with an informed argument for one or the other to put us both at ease ( or sway me to 5.56)

I have a 10.5 9mm, and my buddy has a 7.5 5.56 (his is from JSE). We havent shot his upper yet, but we will tomorrow, so then I'll be able to comment on JSE's quality from a function standpoint.
That said, his upper appeared really well built. We're both SBRing our uppers, so for now we have just been handling them in pistol configuration. In spite of that, I like the the 10.5 more because it gives me more room to hold onto (I'm a little over 6'). The 7.5 was too small for my taste (and of course it'll seem perfect once it has a stock and I'll have to get one, but thats another story).

If you plan to shoot alot and dont reload, or cant find good deals on 5.56 often, then get the 9mm. Thats why I got the 9mm and I've shot over 700 rds in the last month or so, its gonna eventually pay for itself. Not to mention short barrel 5.56, regardless of barrel length, will be louder than the 9mm and that was a factor for me.
