Is that an integral can or just a a handguard cap?

Form-1 that thing and put a stock on it!

I had to make the cap last night and its not a can just a Houge tube. I will probably SBR it soon, but I like pistols.

How's it shoot? I've never shot .458 SOCOM, but it seems like a stout round to have in pistol config.

Hope you don't end up biting that charging handle....

That is a nice pistol! I really like how it just ends right at the tube and the cap to finish it off.
If you dont mind, could you state the parts you used.

I am also curious as to how a .458 shoots in a pistol.

I have owend T/C pistols in 444 marlin, 45/70, 44mag, 7/30 waters, 270win, and 375 JDJ. I like it when they kick. I havent shot this one yet. I still have to crown the barrel and a few other nick nacks, maybe tonight.

Apparently so!

When you finally take it out, let us know how it goes.

The build:
RRA Upper and barrel (barrel cut to 12.5")
RRA 458 BCG
carbine gas system with adjustable gas tube
some cheap gas block
Houge rifle length free float tube
end cap milled by me out of aluninum
E&A lower (only been assembled in pistol config, I have a few)
DPMS lower parts kit
RRA pistol buffer
CAA grip
Vortex Strike Fire red dot sight
I did this because I plan on getting one of Willson Combats new 458 Socoms this summer.

I am about out of ammo. I was just shooting it to make sure that it functioned. There was a question about a carbine gas system on a barrel shorter than 14", but I think I am all right. It realy doesnt kick bad at all.
I do have a 100 barnes 300 gr ttsx bullets ready to stuff in brass.

I have a 10 inch .458 Socom Teppu Jutsu upper .
It has a pistol length gas system Marty builds them like that for reliability. With the .458 the longer the gas system the more narrow the bullet and powder selections you can use reliably. Makes for a more finicky set up.
With the shorter system you can shoot a much broader choice of bullet weights and loadings and still get full function of the action.
That the way it was explained to me.

That was the explanation I got too. I was told that I would probably have issues with subsonic loads. That was one of the reasons for the adjustable gas tube. I dont shoot subsonic loads so thats not an issue. So far its working great. I will no more as soon as I get some ammo loaded.
