Large Button FA w/Recess Cut?
I'm building my first "retro" carbine, an early Canadian C8 clone. I'm having no luck finding a large button forward assist with recess cut for the A2 lower. Would it be correct to use a tear drop or standard button FA? Will the tear drop FA work on an A2 lower? Anyone know where I might be able to find the large button FA w/cut?
Thanks
Yes, the teardrop will work on an A2 lower. A large head FA will not however, which is why they ended up notching them until they made the current regular FA. Apparently some Mk18's and Mk12's have been built with teardrop FA's - no one is quite sure why, but they exist.
Never mind. Sorry.
DerMann I think I may have what you are looking for. IM me your email address and I can send a pic to see if its what you are looking for. It's currently on an older A2 upper. The finish is almost silver like the rest of the upper. Kinda looks like an Israeli clone, but with real world wear. Let me know

A small round forward assist would be correct as they were used as replacement parts. Some may have even left the factory that way, I don't know for sure. Teardrops were never used by Canada. I'm on the lookout for one myself, have a nice C7 upper that came with a small round, I won't be bothered too much if I can't find one though.
I prefer the large round with a2 cut FA.
For the lurkers there were four versions of the forward assist:
Teardrop A1
Large round button A2
Large round button with relief cut on inner edge A2
Small round button A2/A3/A4 (current issue)
