Interesting...I don't have the XM607 moderator cutaway pic handy, but it appears that to make it the XM177, they just added a birdcage to the end of the XM607 mod...

Any ideas on how the outer body is attached to the baffles?

It's welded.

This is my understanding of the change between the 3.5" and 4.5" moderators.

Now we get that level of performance with 2" past bare muzzle.

Neil Smith has had these cut away for at least 20 years. Been waiting for them to make an appearance. He has a few that are original, and non cut. I didn't ask what he wanted for them.
